Mancini said as much at his press conference yesterday. He did say we could go for a defender if we feel light in numbers later in January though. I can't blame the head brass if we sign no one, there was £50million+ to spend in the summer on top of a title winning team. Granted we did not capture our main targets but the Plan B/Cs were not very well scouted except Nasty. And if we lose tomorrow and the scum win then our chances of winning the league grow ever smaller and we could be playing solely for the FA Cup.
 
I personally don't blame the higher authority at the club if they refuse to back Mancini further with funds. Would Sneijder, at a relatively cheap price (and if his wages could be reduced), be a good enough option though just to add something different?

He will not budge on his wage demands, he was/is prepared to even go to play Turkish league just to keep that wage.

He is also in the same vain as Nasri and Silva so it would not be something different but saturating attaking mid when we (if we did buy) have other areas in need of bolstering maybe.
