How the hell do they know how many passes a team makes in a game? Just watching Real v Barce and they have that statistic showing. Do they actually have a person counting?

One of my friends works for Betfair and he says there are people who's job it is to watch football matches and press a button when there's a throw in or a corner (etc), so it wouldn't surprise me if there was people clicking when a pass is competed etc..
