password problem

on my laptop, toshiba satellite. If i log off vista, the computer doesnt recognise my password to log on again. Any ideas why this may be happening and wot I can do about it? At the moment i just close down wot ever I'm on and shut the lid and it has no problem with my password then. Its only when I log off for some reason.

You would probably need to do a Vista Repair install. Insert disc Restart Hit F8, select boot from disc and select repair Vista. Alternatively find a system restore point before this occurred (Control Panel/settings) and restore to then.
