Musically Frank was out there, his lyrics were far out. Had some beautiful melodies and riffs as a collective. As my music influencing peers would have just giggled when Zappa came into conversation I only got into his work as I got older. I was shocked to see how together he was as a person, serious and deep. Any interviews given were so on point. Zappa was a gift.

Zappa lyrics could be purile at times but musically he owned it. Very funny references and pastiches of musical styles. He got away with so much because he was so good. As you say, a serious articulate person as well. I am sure dweezle and moon unit agree.
