I really can't understand that Spurs had a free passage to
this lads signing. Looks proper quality and a good signing
for them. Looks like they mean business this summer. Bale
must be going with this supposed large amount of cash they
have to spend.

We don't really
Have a Need for
Another central midfielder
Though do
We
?

The club obviously
Rate Fernandinho
Higher than
Paulinho.

Or feel he is
A better fit
For us.

It truly does make you wonder where Bale is going. With Isco going to Real I wonder if we have opened an interest in Bale. Or made a deal with Madrid to keep their hands off him. He would be a marquee signing. Imagine:

------------Aguero---------
Bale--------Silva-------Navas
--------Fernandinho--Yaya---

Bale isn't going anywhere this summer and that's a fact.

Levy is one tough mother fucker. If they don't get top 4 next season, that is when he will go.

Talksport stating a better player than Fernandinho. Younger Cheaper more caps. We shall see wankers

That's a fact? Fancy a wager on that?

Talksport the same radio station who employed someone who had never heard of yaya toure or david silva, the fact that they have never heard of fernandihno and make paulinho a better player despite never having played outside the brazillian league makes me absolutely sure that fernandihno is going to be very good

On the other hand, Redknapp Junior says he is the signing of the summer, (Fernandinho), and will tear up this league.

Opinions. Like arseholes.

To be honest though TS are just looking at the facts. Younger and more caps and if we were signing Paulinho we would probably point to that too, so on that basis the producer is probably a Spurs fan.

He's roughly half the price, younger and currently keeping our new signing out of the national team. If I were to take off my blue tinted specs and comment with complete honesty, I'd have to say that Paulinho is one hell of a coup for Spurs and arguably the better signing of the two. I'm very surprised United were not in for him, as he's exactly what they need. Tight bastards could have hardly complained about his price, either.

As many have said before - Spurs are shaping up to be a real threat next season.
If they stay as they are upfront, they won't threaten above 4th, however if they sign a world class striker, then they could challenge. Squad seems too thin for a full on title tilt though. We shall see. The more competition the better.

If people cite caps as being the reason for him being a better player then they can look at the fact that Jo is in that team as a barometer as to how good that team is and also to point out what playing for a local team does for your chances of playing in that team.

-- Tue Jul 02, 2013 8:25 am --

They have one world class player who baled them out (excuse the pun) so many times last season it was laughable, just because they have signed one unknown midfielder who could be good or could flop much like fernandihno doesnt make them title contenders, sandro is this myth much like lucas at liverpool the more they dont play the better they become. Their defence needs looking at also as well as the steel in their midfield and also they are banking on bale to repeat last season which i doubt will happen.

Which is why they will only challenge on 4th if they stay as they are, like they did last season. The addition of a quality striker though could push them onto that next level, however like I said above, their squad size will make a title challenge hard. They will be there or there abouts though.

I think a quality striker would be a good addition but it doesnt address an untested midfield and a defence thats easy to get at and i agree with you about the squad size but tactically i think AVB sets them up so you can get at them easy as well but they will be around 4th or 5th its going to be an interesting league.

I hope you're right. For the record, I think Fernandinho will be great for us. But when another club makes a good signing - as I believe Spurs have in this case - it's only right to offer them a tip of the hat.

From what I have seen of Paulinho he is very hit and miss. Brazil can play either really well or really poorly depending on their tempo and he is a perfect reflection of this. Paulinho, Dembele and Sandro will be a good midfield three and if they can secure a top notch striker then Bale, Lennon and ? will make them a quality side. I feel that Fernandinho is the better bet, settled in Europe, proven in the Champions League and at his peak in terms of age with a hunger to get into the Brazil World Cup Squad. He will give more freedom for Yaya to play and I think overall suits us more than Paulinho would. I am not convinced about Paulinho, if he does settle and do well then great for Spurs but when you look at the wider picture we have secured a proven (Fernandinho is proven) player who will instantly make us better, and we have Rodwell who injury free will excel in the middle for us too and could play for us for many years hopefully.

But isn't he keeping Fernandinho out of the team? Surely that means he's the better midfielder or am I missing the point

Whilst it looks like he is on paper I think Scolari has been really pushing to use plenty of players from the Brazilian league as a way of creating a real identity and pride in the team from the fans.

As has been said Jo is there and has played and he hasn't even done that well in Brazil but hes well known and playing in the Brazilian League.

Personally I think Fernandinho is the better player, a lot more proven anyway.

You're missing the point. As has been said many. many times Brazil won't pick anyone playing in the likes of the Ukrainian leagues regardless of how good they are.
We'll all see who they better buy is once they've both settled into the same league. My money would be on Fernandinho but I'm a Blue so would say that :)
