I think we can all agree on the fact that we need a winger with bags of pace etc to bring something we have been lacking and theres plenty of names being mentioned, Lavezzi, Hazard, Robben, Ribery, etc, etc....
Ive given this some serious thought and he is potentially the best option out there in terms of age, fee required and quality combined. Im not so naive to think that hes going to be easy to pry away from barca by any means, but with sanchez' arrival, villa being deployed out wide, adriano and Affelay (when he returns from injury) fighting for a place and players such as Tello breaking through all for two positions it seems they have it covered if they were to loose a player. He has already fallen down the pecking order with sanchez arriving.
He has everything we require, speed, skill, drive to get forward, crosssing (a rarity in barca's game but whenever i have seen him cross its always got to its target), he doesnt have a weak foot (for years i always thought he was left footed and after doing some research it turns out he is naturally right footed and just has two equally telented feet), he can strike and finish a ball and has a very good eye for a pass.
Estimated transfer fee- between £25 and 30 million i reckon.
I have overlooked him so many times, and (now regretably) even commented about us buying elia, i maintain elia is a quality player who just needs to establish himself but he and pedro are a million miles apart.
What do you guys reckon? Is pedro the missing link?

Was thinking this the other day myself. Pedro would be a great player, I'd take him in a heartbeat.

After some checking it looks like he's picked by Guardiola often enough and loves being at Barca. His release clause is astronomical.

Sensible and reasoned opinion on Bluemoon, ban hm. :p

I fully agree and most of my reasoning was just taken this second from op's post.
I think if we could get him, we should defo.

I doubt Tottenham would let Bale go to us. But a club like Barca could unsettle him. So best bet this summer is Barca buys Bale, we sign Pedro.

I wouldn't mind bringing in Pedro... but never at those figures. Around £15mil would be more reasonable.
But why on earth would he want to leave Barca? He's had a, by his standards, very poor year due to injuries, but I'm certain once he's back in shape he'll be one of the first names on the team sheet.

One of the most underrated top level footballers going, would get two thumbs up from me.

That is a very good suggestion, the guy has pace, can dribble and can cross. And i think for a reasonable offer we could get him

I think that He could leave for less money...15...18 million euros. It could be an offer from Roma to be with Luis Enrique, his ex coach in Barça B

C'mon man! £15 mil??? really??? at that price pedro himself would take offense and sack any potential deal off on the spot. Put into perspective chelsea paid around £23 mil for mata and we paid around £25 for merlin, make of that what you will.
No doubt he is highly rated at barca, but as ive previously stated they are well covered for that position- affelay (when back from injury), adriano, sanchez, messi, villa, messi, iniesta can play wide and then any of the endless talent coming into the fold, theyre not short of talent as we know and loosing pedro wont make a great deal of difference as has been shown while hes been out injured.

The way i see it is, its all good being at barcelona winning just about every game and silverware infront of them but any self respecting player will one day think about wanting more of a challenge, as has been proven in the past with ronaldinho, our own yaya etc, they will want to be key players in a squad, in turn having the satifaction to know that they played a definitive part in the success of the squad they play in and not just knowing that if you pass to messi the games already pretty much won. Where better to challenge yourself that the premier league more-so Manchester city football club, okay so the weathers not always that great, and if you do anything out of what the british media percieve as the norm they will write any old shite, but for purely footballing terms it cant be beaten.
If that hasnt convinced you, think about it this way- being the key to unlocking a 10 man defence against (lets say everton, no reson just the first name that come to mind for any eveton fans) with your blistering pace and ball skills or just another name on the teamsheet at a 6-0 demolition against real sociedad, i know which id prefer....

Pedro is going to struggle to get back in Barca's team because Tello and Cuenca both play out wide and both look outstanding in their breakthrough year. Tello in particular looks amazing, 7 goals in his first 12 games at the top level and a few assists. Add in Sanchez plus Villa (who often plays on the left) and Afellay about to return and it isn't looking great for Pedro unless he can work his way back into form... and that requires getting game time first. Pedro was an unused sub tonight and Tello was brought on instead of him. Could definitely see Barca cashing in on Pedro who would walk into almost any other team in the world and if he does find his form again would be a great signing for anyone really.

I don't think so.

Playing with Barcelona, makes every player looks better.

Wrong! Playing with Barcelona, makes every player better.

Tello, Cuenca, Thiago, Messi, Alexis. Their next generation is faster than the last, their football truly scares me.

I think so Sam, maybe up to £20mil... tops, for reasons mentioned in this thread.
The minute a Barcelona player becomes superfluous to the club, their sale value sinks drastically. And that player will undoubtedly feel he needs to move on in order to keep his career alive.
I know comparison can be made with YaYa's transfer (was it around £24m?). But he is a vastly more versatile player and was a key-signing for our club, and at that point we paid pretty much whatever the selling club asked for. I suspect Pedro would come cheaper... a lot cheaper.
Still not sure he has the physique for the PL though.
