I'll be honest, i thought the last few days of this thread were utter mince, for probably 98% of it. The way i saw it, Pep was annoyed at a terrible refereeing decision, shortly after our incredible momentum had a bit of a stutter, on top of a built up underlying frustration at a pattern of inconsistency with VAR. Even going as far as suggesting they were consciously trying to make the PL 'more competitive', putting it politely.
That was it for me, the other analysis and assumption into his apparent tetchiness, timed with online rumourmongering, was to me, being perfectly honest, just total dogshit.
Now, reading his responses and comments, i do believe there probably Was something there. Maybe not as big as is made out, maybe even not enough to affect his mood and make him any more 'tetchy' than the refereeing on its own would have done. But the way he responded, to a question that for once wasnt That obviously loaded, using the word complain and deflecting to two players that haven't featured in months, makes me think something Was said.
He will handle it, of course i know he will.
But I think a situation has now been created, between the rumours, his response, and sterling's tweet, where he can't Not start tomorrow. It would almost validate and feed the narrative that there is a rift between player and manager if he is left out, and the assumptions and questions would keep coming, and any rumour no matter how far fetched would be taken more seriously than otherwise.
The internationals coming up as well, and all the boredom gossip that brings!
Hopefully, he scores a hattrick, and both say a little rest was all that was needed.
