Excellent season by Guardiola. Managed to keep the false 9 system fresh. Kept the opposition on their toes, even as they thought they'd sussed our gameplan out. Unleashed Cancelo as a bizarre fullback/winger/wingback/central midfielder hybrid, expanding on his notes from 20/21. Bernardo as a box-to-box midfielder was also briefly touched upon in 20/21, and Guardiola used him in the role to a lot of success last season.
For once, he wasn't to blame for the CL exit. The substitutions he made in the attempt to close out the tie were the logical ones (Fernandinho for some steel, Gundogan to add more midfield control, Grealish to hold up the ball), and were similar to what he did against Atletico. He wasn't at fault for the players mentally folding five minutes from the end.
Won us the league with his excellent subs against Villa. Maybe starting Fernandinho back there in the first place was questionable, but Guardiola more than rectified the issue.
