The issue is that we have a habit of not converting control into goals. A ten minute blip becomes less important if you have three goals on the board than if you have one.

Converting possession into chances requires some risk-taking, and trading control. If there is one aspect Pep has put more thought into than any other since coming here it is how to set the team up so that the loss of possession doesn't result in conceding (ironically). But as a result the team plays like a glass half empty - obsessed with reducing risk, and hoping that chances come about by themselves.

Given the success he has brought, the records he has broken, and the current position of the club, I think this is a farcical perspective.

I think Guardiola has been a bit inept this season. Constantly chopping and changing tactics, defensive shapes, personnel roles. He bought a great striker, but refuses to adjust to his strengths. He uses a dross style of play intended to retain control and reduce chances conceded, only to lose control of matches for long spells and concede more chances than ever, fully negating any advantages we have and rendering the team impotent.

Correct. He's risk averse. Scared of losing the ball. The team displays the attitude of the coach. Indecisive, slow, and confused. Pep is scared to let them off the leash and they've forgotten how to play without fear.

He's near the end of his time at City and will judge himself a failure if he doesn't win the CL.

His nervous tinkering and fear of failure will leave us in a worse situation (in terms of the squad ability etc) when he leaves than when he arrived.

He's been here a season too long imo, and is in danger of tarnishing his reputation for the sake of winning the CL with someone other than Barcelona/Messi... his personal holy grail.

In my view, for various reasons, this is the hardest Pep is working in his career and we are still in with a good chance in three competitions + we have a manager who backs the club during unprecedented external attack. Folk underestimate how hard it is to keep a squad at the very peak standards season after season. On top of that:

- a world cup right in the middle
- needing a complete change of style to integrate Haaland
- constant disruption to a back 4 because of injury
- a new no 2
- ageing key players
- some squad dissatisfaction because of rotation
- the circus round charges
- the refereeing bias

We are lucky to have him, imperfections and all. Everyone has an opinion but only one is the best coach and serial winner we will ever see.

You are aware that we are the current champions, 2nd in the league table, and still in the FA cup and CL?

I cannot think of any circumstance where that position would lead to some asking for a change.
