Pep Guardiola - 2022/23

We are in January now.
He got his 30 mins of Pep so he could make sure he was available for the England squad and then....
So what are you suggesting, he injured himself and made sure he timed it just right to return back to fitness before the World Cup? Struggling to understand the relevance of it being January. He’s fit now and he can start playing games for us and getting up to speed. Writing a new signing off after about 100 minutes of football is nonsense but it’s something I expect to see on bluemoon these days.

Happens to all the greats eventually (an argument for Paisley as an exception). Suddenly the aura slips through familiarity. Players no longer willing to run through walls and buy into the excitement of new ideas and methods, etc. etc. Is it resurrectable? Big test.

Great manager and all however does some totally bizarre stuff and would be a cluster fuck, if his apprentice at arsenal wins it. Especially giving them 2 top players. Zin should be our left back and Jesus should be out wide or playing up top with Halland. By the way I would have jesus all day over Alvarez.

I don’t know what I believe really after such an abysmal showing but anyone think Pep knew what he was doing and played who he played with the oncoming schedule in mind? Take a look at the scums fixture list to see my point. They now face the frantic madness we have faced a good few times.
In the strangest of seasons what trophy is easiest to give up on?
I don’t class Brentford Everton and even Fulham as major tests mate and that was in the premier league which is our bread and butter . We are way off it and pep is a major part of it . I get he is our greatest manager and probably the greatest manager ever but he us getting it wrong week in week out and it needs sorting

I always liked Jesus but you have to say Arteta has got the best out of him not Pep. He’s playing at a level i’d gave up on him playing. It’s only over about 5 months but he’s playing at a staggeringly good level in a team playing the kind of exciting fast football we used to. Fair enough the goals had dried up but his link up play and confidence is top class now.

Maybe this is just what happens when Pep stays longer than he normally does at a club, he gets bored with perfecting the greatest title wining machine and hoovering up trophies and decides to go mad scientist and experiment with formations and players to relieve the monotomy of it all in his head ;-)

Think a bit too much is being read into it tbh. We’ve got a few players seriously out of form and a few players we have been overplaying to compensate.

Yesterday was the right game to rest some and try and play others into form, it’s just that none of them took their chance last night.

I don’t think we’ve worked out how to transition with Haaland in the team properly still either, although I always thought that would take a while - I’m more surprised how effective he’s been already tbh.

There will be a reaction Saturday as 3/4 of that team that started last night won’t be starting,so the A team will be on show, nothing to worry about, and when we win Pep will be a genius again, but he will still be gone at end of season

Both Pep and Klopp haven't been at their best this season. Maybe they and some of their players are tired mentally? Blunt comments about some players and body language, overreactions (after Fulham win) indicate he isn't particularly calm and happy.

To me the players look visibly pissed off in the roles they're being asked to play on the pitch. I don't think the current system is getting the best out of anyone on the pitch. It's no coincidence that when Pep let us off the reigns on Sunday we looked back to our free flowing best.

These players thrive on muscle memory and a system they know inside and out. This new three at the back iteration is making us totally predictable. The wingers have no space, the #8s lack space. Haaland gets crowded out.

Haaland has slighly changed the dynamic and Pep needs to decide who is the most affective of our wide players to benefit this, plus I think this is why he is messing with the back 4.

Another problem is Kev is agung and form can be erratic but in any moment he can win a game so balancing that has seen the midfield sometimes lacking

He has to give the players new tactical ideas though as it’s not him that’s getting bored, it’s the players. He has to give them something different each season so that the guys that have been here 5,6,7 years still feel like they are learning and it still feels fairly fresh. That’s what he’s trying, that’s why we have this current system. But it’s just not working and the players don’t look up for trying something new or different, they just look fed up. And that’s the major concern regarding whether enough of our players are still 100% up for working with Pep.

The World Cup has caused much of this, we usually kick in about now but we are only just getting back into it, we destroyed Chelsea the other day with fast paced football, we need to get that back. Some players Cancelo have dropped off dramatically but remember he was playing left back and setting up shit loads, now he’s a right winger or right back! Get a settled 11 and then rotate one or two for lesser games but the constant chopping and changing is nit helping anyone. The derby is now huge and will show how near/far they are from us.

He’s boring the arse off me with our crab like play.

Something went badly wrong in the build up to last nights game I feel. Wrong line up aside, maybe poor motivation, lack of interest etc. We were appalling.
