Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

How can we have reached the ceiling with this team when our current team is a huge core of young players and a few in their prime and a few older players to compliment them?

O’Reilly is 20 and never played in the first team before January this year, Gvardiol is 23, Nunes is new to his position and never played there before January this year, Nico is 23, Doku is 23, Foden is still growing as a leader, Cherki is 22 and has only started 5 games for the club so far, Haaland is still improving on many areas of his game and finishing, Khusanov is 20, Savinho is 22, Rodri is still recovering from his injury, Donnarumma and Reijnders have only just signed for us…

Lads under 24 haven’t reached their peak yet and have years of developing time ahead of them. New players haven’t all settled. As a unit, this team has only played together in 2025 and hasn’t built a true team unit together yet.

This team is at the start of its development.

We’ll see the ever more impressive Reis come into the fold (he’s starting to play really well for Girona), we’ll also make more new signings in January and the Summer. And this team will grow for a few years yet before it reaches its ceiling.

The ceiling for this team - when Haaland and Foden are 29, Gvardiol Nico and Doku are 27, Cherki and Savinho are 26, Khusanov and O’Reilly are 24 and Reis is 23, and we’ve made some more signings of players who are in that 24–30 age bracket at the same time these lads all reach it n’all (with the odd younger players and the odd older players to compliment them) - will be much higher than it could possibly be now.A nice

That’s what our squad looked like in 2017-18 and 2018-19 (our best ever sides). We had a huge core of players who were aged 24-30, with the odd youngsters and the odd 30+ to complement them.
A nice dose of logic...

He laughed long and sarcastically when the journalist included the 'bought for a lot of money' comment about Ait-Nouri, but one of these days he's going to lose it and give them a deserved broadside.

Rate that he appreciated that Cherki came on vs Fulham and steadied the ship so rewarded him with the start today. Looked much better and in control vs a better team.

You'd earn a good living if you were paid everytime he brings up Messi lol.

He made a great point referring to Messi. Messi didn't try rabona crosses, and not because he lacked skills or confidence.

Of course, if you are 2 goals up, a little bit of showboating is entertaining for fans. But if we need a goal and Cherki fails to assist a goal attempting a rabona cross, Pep will be livid.

I think the chance Cherki created for Haaland was more difficult to pull off than the chance for Foden's goal. That was genius.

Wasn't showboating to me, a brilliant cross that created a goal, Pep's a miserable bastard saying that, so called defends his players and team, then say it was nice, or good, or something on those lines, and leave it at that, not comparing to what Messi did ffs, there will never be another Messi in our lifetime!

Problem is he wants them to score the more than perfect goal every time, with every player having a touch of the ball at least twice, which includes side to side and backwards

I see both sides but at the end of the day Cherki improvised and created a goal

After the seeming endless side to side passing last season I'm all for it. Pep is just trying to keep his feet on the ground

Pep being a misery about Cherki’s rabona is the least surprising development from today’s aftermath.

Hope he doesn’t kill that creativity and spark out his game. He obviously wouldn’t have done it at 1-1/if we were losing, but football is entertainment - that’s what people pay their money for, to be entertained - so I’d hate to see our manager discourage that type of thing from our players.

Let those with the ability to do it, do it. Be free and have fun, that’s when they’ll perform best.

Jack Grealish agrees with this

I see this thread is quiet tonight after a resounding win took us within 2 points of top.

Presumably the Pep Out imbeciles are dripping their poison elsewhere.

Some strange decisions over the past few weeks, but he said for a few weeks he sees something in this squad. Almost calm confidence. We are now seeing what he is starting to build. To fully fulfil it, needs him to extend.

The perfect City goal against Real would involve 20 successive rabona passes by all eleven players with the ball ultimately bouncing in off Savinho's arse.

"Sav's arse was so, so good" says Pep in his post match gibberish.
