And if I supported Inter Milan I would hate it when AC Milan are referred to simply as Milan.

Why would you?

Milan are Milan and Internazionale are Internazionale. That's their names.

We don't call Liverpool 'Liverpool FC' or Everton 'Everton of Liverpool'.

Isn't it Athletic Club Milan and Internazionale di Milan?

Yes. But the AC is just the same as FC in English, but it comes at the start. And Inter's offical name is Internazionale of Milan. The name of the club is Internazionale; it just happens to be in Milan.

Each set of supporters refer to themselves and each other as Milan and Inter, so it's not really the same as the whole Manchester thing. It's the English (including myself until I went there) that incorrectly refer to them as AC Milan and Inter Milan.

Athletic Club Milan (AC Milan) is their definitive name. They officially have an English name.

Might make me unpopular but the idea that Old Trafford isn't in "Manchester" is absurd.


That said, it pisses me off when people refer to United as just Manchester.
