We have a bottomless pit of cash and could have signed 6 centre halves at £100 million each - oh wait that's the press and Dippers talking.

If we cannot muster a decent defence from Walker , Cancelo , Stones , Fernandinho , Rodri , Ottamendi , Zinchenko , Mendy and Garcia then we do not deserve to retain our title , Laporte is one of the best in europe but so was KDB last year , and we did OK.

Exactly. We cannot have the perfect solution in every position and chose to strengthen both fullback positions and holding midfield. We knew we were short there but decided we could cope, let us prove that is the correct decision.

I don't really understand the fuss to be honest, Stones, Otamendi and Fernandinho is comfortably better than 18 centre back groups in the league.


If Laporte is out for 4-5 months than he'll be back in January and ready for the part of the season where we need him.
