Pep Out

He didn't get it wrong, the players let him down. The team he picked should have been more than capable of winning that game against a weakened Juventus. Benatia cost them 2 goals, so Pep hooked him.

Then his 2 attacking formations won Baern the game.

I don't think he got it wrong either. I think he planned to pass Juve to death, knacker them out then if they were still in the game, kill them with fresh tricky players when they got tired. Bayern had the away goals so Juve had to come out at some point. Defending like twats, was not part of his plan.

The problem imo with both Bayern & Barca is that their defenders don't often come up against a team who causes them problems in their uncompetitive leagues. Even when they do fuckup, the oppo is scared to score. This imo is why people like Boateng & Piquet are highly rated. If a decent team copes well with their plan 'A' & hits them hard in their defensive areas, they have a big problem. (We have done Pep's shite cbs over more than once, individual mistakes everywhere)

Otherwise they would play each other in the Champs Lg final every year imo.

Pep had a 'plan b' from kickoff imo, just wasn't expecting to have to use it from 0-2.

Their shit defenders are where teams like us can beat them imo, if we can keep them out. Big 'if'.

He got it wrong tonight, but he wasn't too stubborn to change things and won the game. That's been the biggest gripe with Pellegrini over these 3 years.

Love this. Especially now Guardiola came out with the comment that the comeback had nothing to do with the subs, but was purely down to the emotion of the game. I'm happy Guardiola has a more realistic view on things than the onces who wanna write down everything to Peps' magic.

Fact is Bayern nearly got eliminated. And that would mean an embarrassing stat for Guardiola in the CL. Outplayed by Bayern when at Barca, outplayed by Barca when at Bayern, and it could have been so very different last night is Juventus would have killed the game off when they could and should have done. Than again, 3 weeks ago Bayern should have killed it off already before Juventus did their remarkable comeback. That performance in Turin was much more Pep-like than the rubbish Bayern produced yesterday.

I'm happy as hell we get Guardiola in next term, but I try to stay with both feet on the ground. He will inheret a poorer squad than he has had before, in a far more difficult league with more games (less time to train), more pace and more physical. I expect him to jump up and down the touchline more often than Simeone because things won't go to plan. As I expect us to play better football without any guarantees of winning silverware. And the luck he seemingly has on his side I'd gladly take as a bonus.

I wouldn't call their defenders shit to be fair - the problem is that Badtstuber, Boateng & Javi Martinez are injured and Benatia was in his first game back from a big injury, playing next to a 20 year old midfielder deputising at CB.

By the time they get to the 1/4's or semi's their centrebacks will be fit and that weakness will have gone.

Also I think it would be pretty naive to suggest Pique's not an excellent defender, you only need to look at Barcelona's defensive record in the champions league, or vs. the top 4 teams in their league to see that their defence is rock solid and he's a large part of that.

Can't agree on any of that.

All benefit from the quality of their teamwork & are fucking useless at defending imo. Whatsmore, it wouldn't surprise me if both teams miss out on the Champs League for that very reason. They are way ahead in every other. Boateng has gifted us at least two maybe 3 goals. Martinez is an oil tanker. Badstuber.. maybe. Piquet, big wuss. Mascerano, too small.

Crap.
