Txiki meeting Martin Demichelis agent tomorrow..
Only as plan B if Pepe fails.

Yes, the press in Chile reports that Martin Demichelis agent Sergio Mandrini flew in from Buenos Aires today to discuss possible a transfer with Txiki bastard and AM.

have these stories become conflated?

ATLÉTICO SEES HIM AS AN OPTION TO STRENGTHEN ITS BACK FOUR

Demichelis is back on the scene
ALBERTO R. BARBERO AND VERÓNICA BRUNATI 07/07/2013

Atlético is working on its plan B. Now that it seems unlikely that the club will be able to bring in its first-choice transfer targets as it attempts to strengthen its squad ahead of next season - Negredo up front, Diego as playmaker, Toulalan in midfield and Otamendi at either centre-back or right-back -, the Atlético board is fully aware that a change is needed in its transfer planning.

The option of bringing in Martín Demichelis has re-surfaced. Atlético was already interested in him and now he is available on a free transfer after his contract at Malaga ended on 30th June.

Demichelis' agent, Sergio Mandrini could land in Madrid as early as tomorrow to kick-start negotiations with Atlético. The player's salary demands could hinder his transfer, so the club is still studying other options, including a possible loan deal.

Re: Pepe

Demichelis has asked Atletico to let him go according to Cadena SER. Pellegrini has offered a 2-year deal.

Are they a reliable source mate?

I'm not sure, I know they get quite a bit right though. Here's the story in Spanish: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.cadenaser.com/deportes/articulo/demichelis-pide-irse-atletico-madrid/csrcsrpor/20130813csrcsrdep_19/Tes" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.cadenaser.com/deportes/artic ... dep_19/Tes</a>

Is he the agent for anybody else we might want ? (straw grasping)

He's working for Jorge Cyterszpiler's agency so they have a lot of argie players on their roster but Im more or less sure it's Demichelis.

Hopefully any deal for De Michelis is conditional on the ponytail going.
a terrible purchase he was slow when he was younger he is not what we need.

Was better than Kompany, Lescott and Nastasic were against Dortmund in both Malaga vs. Dortmund games last season. Is there any faster team in the world than Dortmund right now? He's slow but intelligent. Would much prefer Pepe though.

Really suprised at this. Why not go down the road and collect Agger who is younger, cheaper, better and comes with less baggage/red cards.

Spanish clubs look towards our league for quality defenders, not the other way round.

The force is strong in this one. I cannot tell whether this is a serious post or not. But what you're saying is lets not bother going for an Aston Martin db9 and let's go for a ford focus instead.

Interesting, it looks like maybe we are getting Demichelis then.

I said in the Demichelis thread that I would prefer Pepe for the CL, but he would demand a first team pace resulting in Nastasic's game time likely to be diminished compared to last season.

Demichelis does look more of a back up center half, he has worked under Pellegrini and will understand his game plan/ tactics inside out no doubt.

Re: Pepe

Lots of conflicting stories tonight in Spain about Pepe. Some say he's staying and Real have turned us away, others say City are encouraged and think Real will do business (to get money for Bale), and now the news about Demichelis possibly being close to joining us. Maybe we'll find out tomorrow (err... today).

i'd offer them 40m for di maria and pepe.
I would too but don't think di maria wants out either. I have no qualms about finding they're bale bid. Disappointed he'd be leaving the league but if we get Pepe in return they'd have 0 depth in defense

Re: Pepe

They've said Di Maria is staying. Coentrao is the only one officially on the market as he wants weekly starts.

"Okay Perez, we will let you have Isco if you give us Coentrao + Pepe for 35M" - Txiki

"Deal" - Perez

*wakes up from dream*

Is 'they' Real?

I've been saying for weeks that we need 2 CB's, a new LB and a new LW to compliment Navas. Surrly if we jesttison Sinclair, Garcia, Kolorov, Lescott, Barry, Razak and Boyata we could afford to bring in Coentrao, Pepe and Willian/Di Maria and still balance the books.

If our new approach has shown us anything, in the fight against ffp, wages are an even more important factor than a realistic fee.

Boyata actually looked good against Bayern. I wouldn't be too quick to get rid of him.

I'd love to see Boyata make it but am still wary about him - even in that good performance against Bayern he switched off for one of their goals. A friendly against Bayern is a small sample size and I watched Bayern the weekend after against Gladbach and they played with far more intensity than against us with it being a competitive game. Two very bad loans for Bolton and FC Twente (in the 7th best league in Europe and they sent him home) are a bigger sample size and the latter was only last season so not much has happened between then and now to change him. But maybe his flaws can be trained out of him.

and he's only a year older than Tony Book when he was signed!
