Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

Totally agree and one thing to remember as regards the circus around Pep about whether he stays or goes, the most important people to give us long term success at the club are the owners. We won two Premiers with pretty second rate managers and will again or the owners will change it.
Are you honestly calling Mancini a second rate manager? Give your fucking head a wobble...

I believe there are posters on here who think it’s as simple as a push of a button in regards to buying and selling players.
I believe those posters to be idiots.
Of course it's not simple. That's why sporting directors at top clubs are paid in millions, given incredible support systems in terms of staff, and have access to vast scouting data. It's not supposed to be simple, thus all the plaudits when a club like ours get it right for such a sustained period of time. Moves involve the availability of a player, the cost both in transfer fees and salary, the desire of the player to join, other positional priorities, the manager's opinion, and on and on.
But don't for a moment think there aren't at least a dozen players at every position on the pitch who could help a City, a Real Madrid, or a Bayern improve. You may not know who those players are but you can be sure Pep, Txiki and his staff do...

...and have good reason for the decisions they've made

All good things come to a end sooner or later, Pep and City know this and will have a plan moving forward now if this means Pep signing up for 2 more years great, if not the club already know who’s taking over and will back him in the market. City are no longer a Micky mouse outfit and I have complete faith in the owners unless they are planning on selling, which deserves a thread on its own.

You think if Pep was prepared to extend a year and after 10 years here review every year, the club would (should?) tell him to get fucked and get someone else in because he wouldn't commit to two?

For the record, I think he extend for two myself, as I don't see him doing one, doesn't feel like his style. But regardless, that's crazy talk pal.

The biggest concern with a short extension is it usually or certainly seems to be that a lot of Peps signings take a full season to 'get' what's needed & if he's off then it'll really just be a wasted season in that respect.

Two years is a short extension too.
