Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

I think Pochettino will be in the job this time next year.

Not that I want that.

Just seems like he's not taking any other job and waiting to take the City job when Pep leaves.

PSG will probably get there first

I think his demeanour is his acquired attitude to the British press pack. His non-acknowledgment of the guy who started with a "hello Pep" and the pause for reciprocation that never came, he knew a narky question was coming

Nothing more certain than a reunion with Messi. Sadly it will be as Barcelona manager in a years time.

Unless Messi arrives in the next few months, I don't see Pep extending.

It will take something of that magnitude to seemingly fill him with renewed zest for the job?

Listening to Pep there, while acknowledging how much he finds the whole presser thing annoying, he provided little optimism and enthusiasm for the season ahead.

He actually sounded a bit like Mancini in his final days, dissatisfied with his lot.

We seem to be sleepwalking a little into the unknown this season.

First time in a while that there is less confidence and certainty about how the team will actually perform?
I think the club feel the same way with him, hence the lack of transfer activity.

Maybe wrong but I don't think we will sign anyone else.

More likely somewhere in Italy.

Great tax breaks for multi millionaire footballers, better climate and an easier league for a 34 year old.

Messi wanted Pep, not City.

I don't fancy another Messi circus in 2021. It's unlikely he'll leave Barca unless it's for another pay day in America.

I've had an inkling for some time that Pep is finishing up at City. Champions League aside, what else has he got to realistically achieve?

after watching his first interview of the season pep is troubled by something and looked in a bad mood
maybe its the press slots he has to do or just feeling a bit low. but the pep we all know and love was not on show today

we can look to deep into this and say pep is just going to be running through the motions this season
or we can say he is more than ever 100% fired up and will not take 2nd best from anybody and the gloves are off

I see Poch is talking up Madrid. So maybe he isn't the nailed on replacement

How is Patrick Vieira doing at Nice? He must be ahead of VK. With Arteta gone too he could be the guy.

It obviously does. I don't think Leo's showing up this summer or next, but if he does it's ridiculous to think that wouldn't impact Pep's decision.

Nope doesn't mean didily squat. The death of his Mum and the Covid situation in his own country would have the most impact

Just watched his press conference. I know he has no time for the press like the rest of us but He’s just drained the Last bit of optimism out of me for a new season! Full on short sulky mode.
Agree with this. I always watch the press conferences but it's a long time since I have seen Pep so downbeat, especially early in the season. He's rarely full of beans talking to the media but today was very negative. What worries me is that as a leader his body language is important for motivating the players and fans. I hope it was just a one-off and not part of an extended hangover from the Lyon match. We'll find out on Monday.

Hmm, pretty sure Leo Messi showing up would be pretty significant also, but agree to disagree on that one.

Yes Poch , thing is how many trophies has he won ?

I also don’t feel the same vibe about this season. I understand that last season needed to be finished by hook or by crook, but with the state of Europe with this virus, there was an argument for starting the season in the new year, with fans. It could’ve run like this for two seasons and fit perfectly with the Qatar World Cup. The opportunity was there.

But why is this, where has this come from? There was great optimism at the start of the window, weren’t we supposed to be signing up to 5 players, to be making a statement this time? And why the apathy from a club perspective. What has changed since the Chairmans end of season statement?
