Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

He will announce just before last game if it’s needed or after the last game.

No way pep is leaving us (fingers crossed)

Can’t see that after today’s comments. I remember previously when pep ran his contract down to the final 6 months or so he extended around October/November time. I fully expect him to sign an extension during World Cup break next season.

Pep’s situation is intriguing. Only he has the inside track as to why he would want to extend or leave. We can all speculate and reason as to how he will decide but we don’t know the ins and outs of his life. From a football perspective and as a city fan we can only see the positives. Why would anyone walk away from a job that is giving him all he craves as a manager?

City will be City and all that entails ;)

Just sign you mad git.

Apparently, this is the quote in an actual set of quoation marks. So, he mentions a decade of stay, but the condition and the qualification for such a stay remain the same as before, that the players must respond to him. What has really changed recently?

“If I extend the contract, it will be at the end of the next season,” Guardiola said. “Before that is not going to happen. It is many years and I have to see how the team and ourselves are together. Knowing and saying I would stay for 10 more years but we have to take time for that.
“It is not the time for that in this season or during the next season.”

So if during this season and during next season aren’t the time, then the time between the 2 probably is.

Can't see him getting a better deal elsewhere regarding pay, transfer kitty, relationship with higher ups, fans, team spirit, academy etc. Maybe the weather is a factor or he might take a national teams job but leaving for another club seems unlikely thank goodness.

Pep more than likely sign a new deal and any doubts surrounding that is being generated by media. As it has been covered on here Pep will let the club in good time if he is leaving (and there has been no indication on that).

Is Ole still out of work? Knows Haaland and lived close to Manchester for a few years. Gutted if he goes anywhere else tbh…fantastik ;)

Not a great thing to say before the transfer market. We have some Champions LeagueS to win together still, Pep…

Whatever he said when Raiola asked him the question for Haaland, was good enough for him, it seems. So it should be good enough for anyone, imho.

And before anyone says that's why a release clause would be there, surely no-one in a professional environment, who has cared so much about a smooth career progression, would make a career defining move in the hope that something out of their control would happen after twelve months.

Fwiw, I think he is 100% staying. one year rolling probably.

He just wants to make sure everyone in the squad is still happy and firing come the end of his current deal. Its understandable imo.
He’s always said that if he doesn’t feel the squad are responding to him then he should not be the manager. A year is a long time, there’s a very slim chance that they might all get sick of him and want someone else; there’s also an almightily huge chance that they love playing for him more than ever so he doesn’t even blink when signing a new five year deal!
