Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

A few people have moaned about this Club World Cup but it could be what sees Pep stay.

Pep’s contact ends at the end of June, right in the middle of that competition.

I just can’t see him:
Leaving before the CWC in early June.
Leaving during the CWC when his contract expires.
Doing two week’s extra work for free and then leaving at the end of the CWC.
Giving a new manager no proper pre-season with the team and the new manager just starting at a new club a week before the season starts.

FIFA have given players (and presume this applies to managers also) the ability to extend their club contract to be able to be in this competition. As well as signing early to participate also.

The point still stands though. I think Pep will want to participate. A new manager wouldn’t have any preparation in the lead up to the tournament. Pep leaving after the tournament gives a new manager no preparation for the new season.

I can't see Pep or the club allowing a situation where his farewell to City is in America playing in a competition that not many people will be that arsed about and where only a handful of the fans that have been there with him since he arrived will be in attendance

If pep says he is offer after the club league tournament that would leave us in some shit for next season with players knackered, the change of manager and you can bet the fixtures want be as kind as Slot has had it this season!

I think the Txiki news shows we are planning ahead and that doesn’t come without talks of Pep extension. Personally I believe he will sign again. Just with everything going on with the cases and his general attitude towards the clubs future. Even if he is currently planning on leaving at the end of the year he’s talking about the future. He’s wired and will never stop.

If he`s keen on something new then perhaps Dof+coach could be appealing? More power/influence/money & minority stake holder at city/cfg? He`s already the face of the club. Let`s make it official.

Pep would be a catastrophically terrible Director of Football. It would be like bacon face lurking at the swamp on steroids.

Yes, when he goes he needs to go would be unfair on his replacement if he was anywhere near the club. Not sure even staying in CFG would be ideal.

I think he'll have a short break then rock up at Inter when he leaves us. Complete the set. The guy lives football I can't see him not taking another club job. Unless he stays another decade with us of course!
