Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

A bitter disappointment really is over doing it. Frankly as far back as this time last year when it became apparent we were not replacing Kompany and strengthening the defence, nor addressing the misfiring forward line that despite winning the treble had shown in harder times squandering chances would at some point bite us savagely in the arse...and so it came to pass. Chuck in the suspicion that the powers that be wanted very much for Liverpool to win the league and I for one was pretty much expecting much of what took place last season from the off.
Surely you were expecting to be at least challenging in the league. I'd have no problem finishing second if we had a right go at it. Was it 10 defeats? I can't be bothered checking but that's over a quarter of out league games, and I forgot to mention this losing to the rags that's crept back in over the last couple of seasons. Needs sorting by Pep.

I honestly had a bad feeling before a ball was kicked, more so after Norwich, then Wolves at home the title was gone, especially as the spawn of satan were by then being assisted by VAR, Refs and opposition keepers rolling the ball into the net. Make no mistake we still were and are a bloody good side. However there were and are enough weaknesses for decent sides to exploit which will make life difficult without all the cheating and fiddling that goes on.

I wouldn't be surprised if Pep is burnt out at City. If he leaves us it would be for a sabbatical or to retire - that's based on the options available to him.

If you look at the clubs in Europe who could potentially afford him, they all have problems:

- Juve: Dominated Italy for a decade. Absolutely no praise for winning the league, slated if he doesn't win UCL. I'd argue he has a better chance to win UCL at City.

- PSG: Dominated French league for a decade. Absolutely no praise for winning the league and heavy expectations to win UCL. The whole French system is far less prestigious than Premier League, La Liga and Serie A.

- Inter: Miles behind Juve. A huge job to transform the team, and current players (like Lukaku) don't really suit his system. Would also have to take a pay cut?

- Barca: There's no chance he's going back under Bartomeu. Maybe in the future, but he's said himself that he couldn't handle how political it is.

Perhaps he could go and do something completely different (managing Girona/MLS team/Middle East team), but these won't exactly enhance his reputation. He's said he may go into politics previously? He might also just go and sit on a beach for the rest of his life. He could go and work in La Masia? Or on Barca's board?

But let's be honest. If he wants to enhance his reputation and continue to challenge at the highest level City gives him everything.

- Good pay
- Top facilities
- Completely trusted 100% by the board
- Lower pressure/expectation from fans than Barca/Juve/Bayerns etc
- 4 years worth of hard work lay into the foundations
- Best and most competitive league in the world

Arsenal's people approached Arteta directly without permission from City as I recall and came up to the north to hold discussions with him . City found out once this was done.

Pep made reference to Arsenal during his attack on the clubs who were lokking to undermine City - post win at CAS.
Yeah I forgot that, I don't think we hold it against Arteta though.

It is difficult to see where he could go from here having already managed Barca and Munich, maybe international football but who would he manage, it could never likely be Spain.

Who would Pep manage internationally? He's surely Catalan and not Spanish (although I don't really understand the politics over there.)

He went to Bayern Munich OK and that's not a major challenge.

But there's nothing for Pep to prove at Juve. They've dominated Italian football for a decade.

If he wants to win another UCL, surely he's better placed at City than Juve?

Juve are better equipped club as far as both Milan clubs are concered. As for us winning the Champions League I doubt it as there are too many factors going against us. Juve is a stress free job in that regards.

Juventus. He hasn’t conquered Serie A. If he’s the man I think he his, he’ll want that as part of his legacy.

Are you really saying last season was a good season, with the money we've spent ?
It was a fantastic season based on the City of the 80's and 90's but we aren't that City anymore.......i must admit, there are numerous times that i miss those days hugely, yeah, even though we were shit

Win a trophy it’s a good season win the league and it’s a great season win a double or treble it’s an exceptional season.

It’s great now that our standards are so high but there is only four trophies up for grabs win one of those and finish top four you can’t see it’s been a poor season.

Whilst not a poor season it can be considered disappointing because by not dealing with one or two clear issues we contributed to it not being a much better season. Not much we can do about the cheating.
