Pep's training and injury issues

It is difficult to copy Guardiola's methods because it is multilayered and each layer is dynamic. He is a composer to an orchestra knowing which parts of the ensemble to tweak to keep the masterpiece non monotonous. Playing the ball from the back for example can be 1) pass to the FBs, failing that 2) pass to Fern if FBs are marked, failing that 3) pass to deep-laying Aguero if FBs are marked provided Fern moves to one FB side, failing that 4) hoof the ball to wide player if Aguero is also marked provided two midfield players are marking Aguero, etc.

Pep has it down to the minor details and he remembers every single contingency to every other contingency. He has a sunburst diagram in his head. That has been alluded to in Pep confidential where he changes the tactics as soon as he finds out his previous has been found out, and it keeps the opposition guessing.

I do wonder why other coaches don't copy Guerilla's methods. A new technology comes along, it tends to get copied.
Che Guardiola??!![/QUOTE]
Well it hasn't happened yet and it takes obsessive levels of hard work, which a lot of managers aren't prepared to do. Also, competing with genius is a difficult thing to do.

Because it's up to thousands of tiny nuances - more an art than a technology, as I assume. It's like in theatre or cinema - you can copy some bits from a work of any great director, but it won't make you a master youself. You have to embrace a vast amount of knowledge and finally elaborate your own view. And have talent, ofc. Otherwise you'll be just a dull and ineffective copy.

You can always copy and learn how to play a song on your piano but the composer is always ahead by the time you are done learning.

i'll be interested to see how the squad copes, injury wise, come end of January.
