Performances since Arteta left?

I think our improved performances stem from the more experimental systems and formations we've been playing since Arsenal away. Arteta was still here and working for that match so I don't think it's fair to assume that him leaving led to these new tactics, and I really doubt Pep would refrain from trying a different approach just cos Arteta was against it or whatever. My suspicion is that the league was officially gone after the debry loss in Pep's eyes, so he felt he might as well have a go at trying something different at Arsenal - it worked, so he's continued tinkering ever since. Everything felt a bit stale at that point so shaking it up a bit has led to the players feeling a bit more lively and creative.

It goes without saying that the performance has improved by leaps and bounds since Arteta left. He might have supported some deadwoods and tried hard to convince Pep to start them. Anyway, we are better off without him, good riddance ! I am glad we saw the back of him !

Let's see how he gets on at Arsenal regarding how attacking they become, there might be the answer to come, but I doubt he was the reason we have suddenly got back to our best, coincidence probably

I was just wondering if anyone else thinks likewise. We seem to be pressing and passing much better and our general play is back to its mind blowing best.
So question is, did Arteta encourage restraint and pragmatism? Its like were off the leash again.

Was thinking of starting the same thread and you beat me to it!!!

For me I think the team is playing with a lot more freedom than earlier in the season.

Not saying it’s all down to Arteta but you do wonder if some of his ideas were confusing the players and they’re not quite ready for that change.

If anything this is a positive as it’ll force the club to think very carefully about Pep’s successor and minimising the impact of him leaving

We changed formation, that’s the crux of it. We had got a bit stale, we tried players in different positions. Recently, Bernardo has played both much deeper than normal and also as a false 9 - it’s rejuvenated him. Jesus has played from the left. Rodri in defence, we’ve given Mendy/Cancelo/Walker more freedom to get forward by playing 3 at the back. Basically, we’ve given the squad something new to think about and they’ve responded.
