I think Estupiñán has all the attributes for Pep to mould him in to a top class FB/DM hybrid in our system (which would allow us to rest Rodri every now and then).

He has another 5 or so years in his prime and could allow us to blood in youth from the academy for the next era of the team. Estupiñán has also already proven he can play at a high level in the PL, so there is less risk than signing other players outside the PL.

We could likely get him for ~£40m.

Thoughts?

I’d like to see him perform at a high level for more than one season before rushing to sign him.
I think that will be difficult for him, as I believe Brighton are going to be raid this summer, and I am not convinced they will be able to sustain their excellent transfer record another season to keep them where they are.

Good player, they're unlikely to sell for that little though seeing as they only just bought him. THey'd want Cucurella fee for him.

Caicedo for 80 would be better as it seems they have given him assurances he can leave in Jan.
I think we could actually get him for around £40 million based on his current assessed transfer value, age, and the previous Cucurella transfer saga.

Even at ~£50m he would be an excellent signing.

I also think he would be a better fit for our system than Caicedo (though he is a great player, as well). Estupiñán is a much more of a ‘utility’ player than Caicedo.

As I said in the first post, he could be the perfect FB/DM hybrid that could actually fill Rodri’s role, as well.

For me he is the better value signing.

Why do you think he will go for so much less than Cucurella ? What you mean the saga ?

Need to see a bit more from him, could be the system elevating players above their ability, he's been excellent this season though and I think he's a possibility in that position.

Not many good left backs around if you look around all the top clubs in Europe, so I imagine there will be a bidding war for him.
