Peter Drury replaces Martin Tyler on Sky Sports

Good stuff no more “Oh it looks like City have scored ah well” when a rocket goes top bins.

If he changes the we or for sure he’s been told to play us down.

Peter Drury is a brilliant commentator, and has the uncanny ability to really nail the big moments.
He was on the World Feed for the Aguero goal and nailed a similarly spine-tingling call for that one. His commentary for the 2010 World Cup opening goal is instantly iconic.

The problem with hearing Drury every week, as the quoted tweet suggests, is that he is *too* over-the-top for even the most mundane of games. He will elevate a scruffy tap-in in the 87th minute to Morgan Gibbs White in Nottingham Forest 1-0 Sheffield United to too a similar level of the Tshabalala goal.

And the problem with that is - if EVERY goal is special, then none of them are
If it's your team it IS Special, and you want the Commentator to make a fuss.

As a neutral I suppose Tyler's lack of interest is less grating, but perhaps why every supporter thinks he is against them? I'd rather have some excitement from the commentator at the right time, but not all the time.

When Silva equalised at Klanfield, I genuinely had to check the screen. Honestly thought we'd missed. All I want is for them to be informative and impartial. Tyler was neither in my opinion (not having a go at you btw).

Factoids? Please don’t use that language on here, that belongs to the irritating Cockney **** and his sycophants on Radio 1 and 2 in thankfully the past.
I loved Steve Wright.

His sacking from his afternoon slot is the reason I now listen almost exclusively to Boom.

Radio Two has left my generation behind.

This is great news all round. We’ll soon know if the agenda is real. Drury has been excellent with us so far.
This season gets better and better.
No need to avoid Sky, now (apart from their clichéd punditry) for City games. In fact, a whole reason to switch it on.
Drury heaps praise, and also twists the knife in equal amounts.
I genuinely couldn't tell he you who he supports/hates, which is always the sign of a good commentator

Difference of opinion pal, absolutely couldn’t stand him but it would be a boring life if we all liked the same things! I do like your posts so hope we don’t fall out over Steve Wright!! :-)
