Peter Drury replaces Martin Tyler on Sky Sports

Coleman will always be the best. “Jones has got behind - Clarke…..ONE nil (Leeds v Arsenal ) Newcastle were undressed (Liverpool v Newcastle) goals pay the rent and Keegan gets his share. Keegan two, highway one, Liverpool three Newcastle none.
What a goal (Charlton, Man U v liverpool). Simple stuff, but in the circumstances with a slight pause he made it incredible exciting and memorable whatever team you supported. Porterfield - one nil! Quantarino opening his legs to show his class proved he could do it commentating on other sports too…..I’m sure there were more Coleman balls if you could oblige please?
He was quite remarkable………
Really glad u mentioned the ' Porterfield 1 nil !!
I've got that in my head over the years but when I have looked back, on YT.i can't find the soundbite...

This was also the game, iirc Montgomery the Sunderland keeper pulled off that brilliant save, from Alan sniffer Clarke.?
Jim Montgomery.Legend..

I always liked his poetry in the 74 cup final

"Keegan 2, Highway 1
Liverpool 3, Newcastle none "!

It certainly was that game. And the brilliant part of his commentary is that he actually announces that Lorimer (I think?) has equalised but Montgomery saved it. The astonishment in his voice is what makes it special. I think there future blues played in that game - can you name them? (Two easy but third might test)

And which blue went to Sunderland as part of the deal for two of them?

There's something not right about this sudden Tyler departure. When the rugby league commentator retired, SKY made a big song and dance about his last game. You'd have thought they'd have done similar with this bitter old woman.

I'm wondering if his recent faux pas (something about Kung Foo when talking about an Asian player - was it Son at Spurs?) has made him and the powers that be think that he is indeed over the hill and not to be trusted with his inane ramblings.

You may have a point. Rumours that Souness' reference to a "man's game" did for him? Much as I dislike the old git, hope it doesn't turn out to be health related and privacy being respected. I don't wish that on my worst.
