I was 16 and had just started work when the murders were at their peak. I was genuinely frightened, especially so having to travel home in the dark. The fear for women in the North was palpable and it was pretty bad.

My sister was the same age and it genuinely frightened her to death, even tho we lived in cheadle hulme and a way away from his haunts.
She stupidly used to call the (hoax) phone line and listen to what she thought was him and scare herself more
thankfully i dont think we’ll ever see the likes again with modern forensics. He’d have been caught after one or two
