Petrov to leave?

ridiculous to sell the best crosser of a ball at the club just when we finally get two forwards in (RSC and ADE) who can actually head a ball and attack crosses.

We are mad if we let this guy go, he shown more potential on the left wing pre season than robinho shown all last year. Take the Celtic game, time and time again Robbi muscled out of it, it was like deja vu last season. Petrov is an orthodox left winger, gives the left side balance, i will start questioning Hughes football foresight if this happens.

Yeh, because that'll mean alot to him..

Petrov is 30, just coming off a bad injury, if we can get more than 5 mil for him, job done.

would you put ireland out on the left...i wouldnt......
barry we need more centrally
zab plays on the right as well
robinho.....great player but is his crossing his strongest point....i dont think it is

I fail to see a problem, we've got two players that can head the ball well, that doesn't mean we have to cross the ball at every opportunity.

On the left we have Robinho who can get defenders so twisted up with trickery that a cross is not always needed, with Bridge overlapping (Who can put in a good cross). On the right we have either Tevez, SWP or Weiss who will either cut in or put a cross over (Quality debatable). But either way, the ball will get into the box.

It would be silly to sell Petrov, unless we can get a quality young prospect in to replace him. We need squad depth. So we should just tell him to get to fuck, a la Moyes, and insist he stays.

So one minute we're all chastising Moyes and the next people are saying to emulate him? make your mind up.

i could take elano going...this will disgust me.

the guy was on fire pre season and looks hungry.

we need to find a system to fit him, robbie and superman in the same side.

I am probably on my own in thinking that it is not such a great loss if he leaves. He clearly can not even be bothered to fight for his place. He always seems to want to be the centre of attention and I find it annoying then whilst playing he stops running down the channels if nobody passes him the ball straight away, and when he gets the ball ignores hitting the flank and always opts for cutting inside where the majority of the time he loses the ball. Over rated and clearly not a team man.

He can't be that hungry if those quotes are anything to go by.

We're just doing the best for Manchester City.

In any case, it's not like there'll be offers from clubs wanting to double Petrov's wages and give him a greater chance of silverware, so it's hardly like this is a comparable situation.

I don't think we should sell him just because he's had a whinge to the Bulgarian press.

i dont think you can say he doesnt want to fight for the shirt.
he just did and was our best player..but he wont get a look in.

He's the only orthodox left winger at the club. He offers the side a completely different option. Him and SWP in partnership represent as good a traditional winger pairing as there is in this league.

I can see the reason why he wants to go given his age and the likely number of games he'll get but I hope Hughes can talk him round. He's an asset.

with Bridge overlapping (Who can put in a good cross).

Do me a favor, ive not seen Bridge cross a ball higher than 3 foot of the ground. To be perfectly honest what i have seen of the players Petrov is a better left winger than Robbi. I thought last season was a one off for Robbi and this year would be different, but watching pre season im of the opinion he has no improvement in him. Petrovs form pre season has been excellent, i cant see Hughes letting him go, surely not.

a good player but i understand that he wants to leave to get first team football.

He is never going to get ahead of robinho in the side so if we sell him to a team abroad and bring in a youngster to act as understudy to Robi its a good deal all round.

Who cares how high off the ground a cross is if it finds it's target?

And Robbie isn't a left winger, his natural position is more central, Robbie might not have scored in the pre-season, but he has most definitely improved.

We should always be wary of quotes from players that are away on international duty.

They are generaly badly translated and taken out of context.

If you look at Petrov on the open house video he hardly looks unhappy does he.
