Percentage of League minutes played this season -

Kevin De Bruyne 88.3
Raheem Sterling 86
Ederson 84.5
Fernandinho 80.8
Rodri 75
Kyle Walker 72.4
İlkay Gündoğan 62.1
David Silva 52.3
Riyad Mahrez 56.2
Bernardo Silva 56
Sergio Agüero 52.2
Nicolás Otamendi 53.4
Gabriel Jesus 53.5
Benjamin Mendy 41
John Stones 39.1
Oleksandr Zinchenko 36.8
João Cancelo 30.8
Aymeric Laporte 17.1
Angeliño 18.8
Claudio Bravo 15.4
Eric García 12
Phil Foden 11.5
Scott Carson 0

Foden has played a smaller role in the team this season than Laporte, who has spent 6 months injured, Angelino, the 3rd choice LB who was only here half a season, and Bravo, the back up goalkeeper.

Doesn’t look great on paper but surely you have to add a bit of context.
That LB would have zero minutes here whilst Foden would likely be a starter at utd.
Means fuck all in the scheme of things.

Just to widen this out a bit. Percent of league minutes since Pep told everyone that Foden was a normal member of the first team squad in preseason 2017.

Fernandinho 77.9
Kevin De Bruyne 66.4
David Silva 66.2
Bernardo Silva 62.1
Sergio Agüero 61.8
Nicolás Otamendi 59.4
İlkay Gündoğan 55.6
Leroy Sané 47.2
Aymeric Laporte 46.7
John Stones 43.4
Gabriel Jesus 42.8
Vincent Kompany 28.8
Riyad Mahrez 28.6
Oleksandr Zinchenko 27.7
Fabian Delph 27.1
Benjamin Mendy 24.0
Danilo 23.7
Rodri 18.6
João Cancelo 7.6
Phil Foden 7.0
Claudio Bravo 6.3
Eliaquim Mangala 5.4
Angeliño 4.6
Eric García 3.0
Yaya Touré 2.6
Brahim Díaz 0.6
Lukas Nmecha 0.2
Scott Carson 0.0

Foden has played only slightly more than Bravo since 2017. Bravo's only games in 3 years were half of the Liverpool 5-0 when Eddie got kicked in the face, 1 game at the end of the Centurions season when IIRC Ederson's wife gave birth, and 3 games Ederson missed because he was ill or suspended this season.

Look at the standard of players ahead of him, comparing to a rag is stupid
I'm so tired of this argument. Setting KDB aside, Phil's competition for a place includes an obviously declining 34 year old David Silva, Ilkay Gundogan, who while a very good player, is someone who just about everyone would prefer to see less of at the eight, and in a stretch, Bernardo, who is having a poor season by his standards and for the last two years has primarily played the wing anyway. This isn't some impenetrable murderers row here, there's been plenty of space for him to get more minutes. Oh yeah, and we're 25 points back of the leaders at the moment, so this argument is completely irrelevant. We're barely even playing for anything right now.

So 19 year old Foden has played significantly more senior football than 19 year old Williams.

Great story.

There are still 2 domestic cups to win,it's important to keep winning whatever it is
Agree on gundy but he was peps first sighing and has just been given a new deal,no amount of us moaning is going to get him dropped,he is to pep what mario was to bobby

Yes it is important to keep winning, but we’ve hardly been consistent at that to justify it as an argument.

He actually looks a decent prospect so with our problems at left back this season he might have played a fair bit. Take your point though it’s not really a good comparison as Phil would be playing every week in that showers midfield.
