He has. But this is his time is now and he will be immense this coming season.He was good enough at 16 to be playing top class football in tbis country.
No doubt about it.
He was good enough at 18 to be playing for both Manchester City and England.
The commercial decision to let David silva ride out his 10th season as captain.....and become a legend...has fucked up Phil Fodens early career....
That talent,that footballing genius, could have impacted on our title challenge.
The only thing City won this season was the league cup..when our kid was Man of the match,playing out of posistion..
Our best league performance was against the champions at home where he scored two goals ,and was again man of the match.
Our best performance in Europe was against Real Madrid.we won. Foden,again man of the match.
After all the deliberation..the stop /start fookery over the last 4 seasons.we leave him out of a crucial match and fail to progress to the champions league semi finals
Fodens goals and assists this season are on a par with merlins,despite our academy product playing maybe half the number of games...
Englands midfield is crying out for a ball player with magic in his boots.

People saying he was ready for top class football at 16 & 18 is absolute bollocks. He wasn't properly physically developed at those ages. You could see in some games he struggled due to his lack of physicality. I am thinking of in particular Leicester at home when Vinny scored his goal & Spurs at home in the same season. Even though he scored what turned out to be the winning goal he was anonymous for most of that game. He is only now showing that he can cope with the physical demands.

He’s never had any - pre-lockdown he generally sat on bench behind David Silva who’s legs said adios circa 2018, and Bernard the loveable Ewok, who’s best performances over the past 12 months have come on Twitter - in the hierarchy. He finally gets a chance, proves to have eclipsed both in terms of dynamism and goal threat, yet doesn’t even come off the bench when it’s glaringly obvious we were desperate those aforementioned attributes in a such a decisive game.
Louis Van Gaal had a policy of keeping the depth of senior players in a squad to a minimum, leaving a void for young players to fill - a policy which facilitated the careers of numerous European greats of the past 25 years (plus Marcus Rashford) - many of whom piggybacked Pep to most of his successes.
Foden has the same talent and potential as those players, but without the opportunity and circa 100 starts over the next 3 season will not reach the same levels - he’s already behind most elite players at the same age.
If you don’t want him to be prioritised ahead of the less talented, imported signings, then you ain’t blue.
