Sancho is one of the best young players in the world, a starter for the national team with a price tag of 120m+, Foden is a talented younger player with that potential but is unproven. The key difference is that Sancho left us and Foden stayed. This isn't even this particular case, we've seen this story play out for years now. We've not managed to successfully integrate one youth player as a consistent first team player, 'patience' when a player is good enough isn't an excuse anymore. The truth is the only reason Foden is still here is because he loves the club, no other elite youth player would be prepared to be here knowing the lack of opportunities they are afforded.
He has been hyped to fuck,he is not worth 120m so let's ignore that,he is not on a level with any of our players who are worth that, let's be sensible, pogba sold for 100m because he was hyped to fuck and he has been shit for the rags, the price tag doesn't mean a lot

Yes, hindsight. It's called learning from mistakes.
but at the time it was a 'reasonable outcome'. He's arguably the one that got away if he goes on to prove to be worth what some people are suggesting he will be

Kev said phil got more mins last 2 seasons that he got at his age,we are still getting our senior players fit after a shit pre-season and 8 of them being away in the summer,we are FIVE games in,it's sept, there is no need to panic about his minutes
I look forward to this thread transitioning from "it's still so early, no worries", to "well its champions league, these are huge games", to "wow the league is so tight this year, cant have kids in when every point matters", to "its the stretch run, just gotta focus on winning the league", and he ends up with the same amount of Cup games as he did last year.

Sancho is brilliant. He was brilliant at youth level and he is brilliant right now in Germany. He would be worth every penny of 120m if Dortmund would even accept. Whether you rate him or not, that's most likely the minimum for him.

Couldn't disagree with you there other than the price. The crux of the conundrum is that he wanted to leave because he wasn't going to get game time and he wasn't ready to take the place of our incumbent midfielders. City did the right thing by him and he's gone, he wont be the first to leave the club and he wont be the last.

At that moment, there was very little we could do to persuade Sancho to stay but we can't look at that case in isolation. He won't be the last if players like Foden don't get minutes and give hope to the academy players of the future. That's why it's so important he gets minutes because the good that it does for us as a club goes beyond that of just his ability on the pitch.

Maybe Phil isn't good enough to replace any of the players we have on the books? Pep will play him when he believes he is ready, I for one am not that interested where our players come from because that Horse bolted years ago.
