I used to have a 35mm SLR about a hundred years ago. I've been thinking of getting a dslr for a while now, especially as i'll be sailing for a month this summer and GoPro or iPhone pictures of dolphins and whales always disappoint. Will be an entry level with a nifty 50 and probably a 300mm. Anyone have an opinion on the current entry level cameras?

Personally a big fan of Nikon, Canon are excellent too
