Timmy Mallet used to do the late night slot. He had a chap used to play different characters on the show, including one called Nobby No Level.

That chaps real name?

Chris Evans.

why did james stannage get sacked?

Which time? ;)

First time if I remember right he managed to lock himself out of the station and they had 2 hours of dead air after which the transmitters shut down. They got the FM one up quite quickly but the AM one was down all morning.

I've actually got a programme somewhere from the Maine Road Derby in 1978/79 season which has pictures of all those DJ's in it - I think Piccadilly sponsored the game. Steve Penk must have been starting out at the time and it's fair to say he's filled out a little. Phil Wood looked like a wizard. Dave Ward like a sleazy womaniser and Mike Sweeney a ****.

The day of the 10-1 I was driving back from somewhere and I was listening to Piccadilly you could hear Sweeney getting more and more despondent as the goals kept going in. Needless to say he was a rag.
