PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

But the link to the bottom clubs revenue is going to be based on a multiple of there broadcast and commercial income not ticket or player sales
The cap puts a limit on what they can spend but the question here is the definition of “spend”: is it net transfer etc spend after sales are added in as ‘negative spend’ or the raw gross total of cash going out?

It will be wages plus amortised contract/agents costs. I suppose the question is whether profit on sales is deducted from those costs or not? I can think of no reason (well, just the one ...) why it shouldn't be.

Then again, I can think of no reason (well, just the one ...) why they are considering this stupid rule in the first place. It doesn't encourage clubs to become better, it drags the clubs with the highest revenues down to the level of the rest. Madness.

I'm surprised Masters has any feet left, he shoots himself in them so often.

What this does is bring Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea and Liverpool closer to City and Utd
The top 6 will now have a similar budget each season.
The rest of the league not much changes as the 85% ratio on turnover will kick in before they can spend like the top 6

Pep leaving will do that anyway, they don’t need to change the rules to make that happen.

They've tried everything to get pep to walk and he's dug his heels in
Yeah agreed, and I love that as we all do, but what I’m saying is, he won’t stay more than 10 years will he (or do you reckon he might?!) - as in, if it’s about stopping the level of domination we have now, it won’t continue that much longer anyway. Imho.

Apparently its the other 14 teams and one of the big six which is driving this.

It will just create stagnation at the top by dragging them more towards what the bottom are spending.
Whoever is driving it doesn't matter really the end result will be the same, the Premier League will eat its self.
