We don't really have one, we haven't made the start we have because we've got a plan B, it's because our plan A is more varied than before. We now have pace in behind, it adds another element to our attack but i think crucially, it makes teams think twice about pressing us high all over the pitch. Every manager that's played against us over the last 2 years has worked out that we previously offered little danger in behind and the best way of playing against us was to pressure us high up. The big boys in the champions league did it to us to great effect but so did the relegation fodder in the premier league. If a team pressed us high they'd more often than not get a result. Now however, with the injection of pace we are much more threatening in behind and on the counter. Teams will have to think twice about pushing right up and pressing our back 4 as it leaves a huge gap for Silva Yaya and Co. to play balls in with ease for Aguero Sterling Navas and KDB to latch onto. We won't see as many teams press up high this season and as a result we'll be allowed to play our natural game and invariably the team that's allowed to impose their game more, wins. we have a set style and all the players in our squad are analysed and only bought after considering how they fit into the team instead of the scattergun approach or the "United model" to give it it's true name of throwing money at absolutely everybody until they've got 25 players, let Turtle fall out with the best ones sell them in the summer and rinse and repeat.
A real Plan B for us would be Bony upfront for Aguero, Yaya to replace Silva, two of Delph Fernando and Dinho in the middle to sit, and then focus on Sterling+Kolarov and Navas/KDB+Sagna overloading the flanks and geting balls in the box for Bony and a late arriving Yaya. I adore the football we play but sometimes against stubborn compact teams this should be considered and used, it's not pretty but it wins you tight games. Baconface made a career out of it. Don't think we'll ever see it under Pellegrini though.
