I recall visiting my mums.parents in the late 60's / early.70's - they lived behind the Silver Birch and they were building it then or redeveloping it.
Also recall going to Sharaton baths and they were creating the Sharston by pass. It was a dirt track they had dug out below the ground with tractors and diggers down in the underpass

Was on civic the other day since moving away 2 years ago, fucking dump and more shops disappearing badly needs renovating so fair play hopefully works out well.

Will be interesting to see. Growing up we'd use it as an alternative to Altrincham for shopping sometimes, always used to get the Christmas meat from Wilshers butcher in the indoor market. Had a mosey around Civic one of the last times I was over and it was a bit grim, so maybe this will breathe some life into it again.

Wilshers still going but only in their main street shop now I think.

Liked the bloke, think his name was James but we're talking early 2000s since we bought anything from there. Looked a bit like Jamie Oliver and remember him dropping the meat to ours on the Broomwood at Christmas. We had a steak from them the day we beat United 4-1 with the SWP goal
