Just watching SSN and they keep saying the play off final is a £90m game. Where do they get these figiures from?! Absolute bullshit. No preference for who gets promoted (maybe Blackpool, as it would be a great away day) but £90m, my arse.

The income from TV, sponsorship, gate receipts - and parachute payments if they are relegated from the Premier League - has risen by 50% compared to last year.

The Championship play-off final winners will benefit from at least £40million of additional revenue in 2010/11, the vast majority of this coming from television income and the rest from higher gate receipts and increased commercial income.

In addition, even if a club is relegated after one year in the Premier League, parachute payments may be received over the following four seasons of up to £48million.

So, 40M + 48M is around the 90M mark.

Here endeth the lesson.

I bow to your superior knowledge, although I would like to know your source.

C'mon B'pool a fixture that is local. Anyone notice SS play-off finals, no mention of us.

Between £30 and £40 million for getting into the Premier League.

The parachute payments have just been increased. It's £16 million a year for the two years after relegation, then a further £8 million a year for the following two seasons.

So, for one season in the Premier League, you get your (say) £35 million, then your £48 million in parachute payments.

Not quite £90 million, but enough to keep you at the top of the table in The Championship for a while, unless Peter Ridsdale is the Chairman!

I'd think you were fucking mental is you didn't want blackpool to win and you are born in the north west......like myself ;)
Yep, all for Blackpool myself. I started another forum when the play-offs started and a lot of people don't actually want Blackpool to come up because their ground is too small. I'm not in that camp, I would actually love to see Blackpool in the EPL, as it would just be fun to hear the arseholes on MOTD slagging them off and writing them off one day into the new season.

-- Sat May 22, 2010 6:43 am --
