With Zaba recently citing the WC as a reason for many of the squad not performing up to the same level as last season, will we suffer again next season, with Zaba, Fernandinho, and Aguero all playing in the Copa America?
We had 4 players in the Semi finals, 3 in the final, and it was noticeable that many of the squad only came back a week or 2 before the season started.
With many of our squad full internationals, WC, Copa America, ACON, Euro's all will impact on our squad preparations, is this factored in when we buy players? And assemble a squad As we seem to suffer more than others.
I know we have been hamstrung somewhat by FFP this season, but it seems to go in cycles!

With the slow way players were eased back in I was expecting us to be firing on all cylinders now.

Love Zaba but a poor excuse, Arse and Chelsea had many players involved in the later stages of the WC.

I think we need to look closer to home and in particular at out fitness coaches, considering the amount of possession we have we spend less time than any other team closing down and chasing but get out muscled too often by teams.

It depends how crap our Copa America return policy is next season.
Our season has been blighted by our awful preparation for the world cup and ACON - which came with a fixture list that had many if our most difficult games at the start of the season or during the ACON.
To remedy this (in no particular order):
1. Players back to training at least 3 weeks before the start of the season. (1 week like last season clearly didn't work.)
2. Once the fixture list is known rotate international players on 1.5 (1 game missed) & 2.5 week breaks (2 games missed) as the season progresses.
3. For goodness sake at least try formations without players before the players are away.
That is all.

Erm if City want the best players, they're 99% most likely to be an international player.

Why have an end of season tour? Surely that period is ideal for the players to get some relaxation.

We don't suffer more than others and if you look at Chelsea they have hardly rotated at all this year.

It is a pretty poor excuse by Zabba my opinion (If he said this). Aguero has missed a chunk of the season due to injury so he has recuperation time, De Michaelis has been rotated and we spent 32 million on another defender so we had options and similarly we had an experienced Right back in Sagna on high wages in the event Zabba was feeling the affects. If they are tired it is more due to the mismanagement of the squad.

Well it isn't just the World Cup for Zaba. It's been his overuse for three seasons in a row, plus the WC. He was almost ever present for the whole of the two seasons previous to this one. Full back is a position where they probably do more sprinting than any other position and having to do that up and down the wing week-in-week-out for two years solid will have an effect on a player.

The WC is a poor excuse for a lot of other players. Look at Kun, bar a six game blip he's been brilliant. Sanchez and Hazard too - three of the best 5 players in the league this season all played extensively in the WC. Look around the other leagues: Messi, Neymar, Muller, Lahm, Benzema, Kroos etc etc... all having phenomenal seasons and all played extensively in the WC.

It's all about money but it is a fucking ridiculous thing to do.

We dropped Zaba for Sagna fairly often when he faced a decent winger this season.

It's just another excuse.
