What about winning both the league cup and league the same weekend?

We would have to be 16 points ahead and then 2nd place lose just before we play the final.

I don't think I'd like that to be honest. The players wouldn't be able to celebrate winning the league on Saturday with a cup final on Sunday.

They will give player of the year to Fernandes and young player to mount or grealish

Smith Rowe and Saka look pretty good so far, Barnes at Leicester, a couple of the Leeds boys could be in for a shout.....I think it's pretty wide open still.

Jonathan Wilson said Gundogan is his vote for POTY at the moment on today’s Guardian Football Weekly podcast, for what it’s worth.

The general consensus seems to be that these are the main contenders for POTY:

Ilkay Gündoğan
Rúben Dias
John Stones
João Cancelo
Bruno Fernandes
Mohamed Salah
Son Heung-Min
Harry Kane

In terms of team of the year, I think the four City players mentioned above are pretty much nailed on. The likes of Bernardo, De Bruyne and Mahrez might get in there if they carry on their current form.

A lot depends on how the season ends but surely the only candidate for manager is Guardiola.
