Player of the Year: KDB v Salah

I don’t get this having a soft spot for other teams. I hate all other teams and their players, no time for a single one of them.

Salah will get FWA’s player of the year award, I studied journalism at university and the sports journo’s were like a team of monkeys whooping and a hollering in every seminar and lecture, and every single one of them supported arsenal/united/Liverpool. Well what could you expect from a university in Yorkshire?
Further evidence of course being Walker winning Young player of the year instead of Serg. No city player in the TOTS, no city manager winning MOTS.

Why would this season be any different?

Since the takeover everybody (FA, UEFA) has done whatever they can to stop City from winning. Awards voted on by so-called experts are the last chance they have to make sure teams with ‘istry continue to win things. If Mo was a City player and Kev was having his season for Liverpool there wouldn’t be a debate, KDB would be the PoTY and Mo would be a one-dimensional poacher.

I agree Salah should win it, but I don’t anyone is in denial by claiming KDB should win it. After all, he has got the most assists and created the most chances in the league. It’s not just that, some of his passes this season have been a joy to watch.

Salah - Egyptian - D-nile.

100% spot on that.

mo for golden boot.....if he top scorer.

KDB all the way, his passes this season will be watched for years to come and showed to people of how football passes are made. In fact, i m gonna watch some of those passes again.

Defensively, midfield and attack, KDB is the most complete player in the PL this season, thats what the award is about, not who scores the most goals, there is already an award for that, nobody can doubt that Salah is having a fantastic season but he is not the player KDB is, anymore than Kane is, it will be a travesty of justice if KDB does not win it this season.

That said I would put David Silva as the player challenging KDB for the awards, not Salah..!

It’s amazing how perception becomes fact on some of these threads when bias is trying to be demonstrated. As many have already stated, The Media do not vote for POTY, it is voted for by the players. Giggs won it once, in 2008/09 and played 47 games that season. The Football writers award has never been won by Giggs and the last rag to win it was Rooney in 10/11.
Whilst the manager of the year award is seems of an anomaly with city and PL wins, the Manager of the year award is voted for by the LMA and is voted by all 92 managers and is often won by a manager of a team that didn’t win the PL. Ferguson only won it 4 times. Wenger won it twice, the same as Steve Coppell and David Moyes. It has also been won by Dave Bassett, Roy Hodgson, Alan Curbishley, Dave Jones, Danny Wilson, George Burley and Eddie Howe. So not many PL winners in that lot.
The only questionable one would be the annual divisional manager of the year awards which are voted for by a ‘panel’, as that is the one where you usually win it if you’ve won the title. Only 3 times that hasn’t happened was once with Ferguson and the 2 City wins.

Giggs had 12 league starts and 2 goals. How that's player of the year standard is ridiculous. Even the rags I know were pissing themselves at the award. Premier league manager of the year had been won by Slur Alec 11 times in total, and in the last 15 years has always been won by the league winning manager in all but 3 seasons. Redknapp 09/10 and then the 2 seasons we won the league. Where Pardew and Pulis inexplicably won it...

Salah shouldn't get it.

He had a chance in the last minute against Utd. It was a season defining chance for Liverpool, and he walloped it into the crowd. As a result, his team are 3rd. THIRD.

So he had a defining moment and blew it. KDB had defining moments this season, most notably murdering Chelsea when we couldn't break them down.

It's these fine margins that separate the greats from the very good.

Kanté got it last season despite not being top scorer. If KDB doesn’t win then it’s more to do with playing for us than anything else imo
