Player thread: Pablo Zabaleta (2014/15)

Re: "Oh Pablo Zabaleta..."

Stands on the threshold of becoming an immortal.

Nobody would deserve it more and I am nervous for him and Sergio/Demi.

Them three coming back with a winners' medal around their necks would give the team a huge edge next season.

Re: "Oh Pablo Zabaleta..."

He came to City just after Olympic Gold in China.

Re: "Oh Pablo Zabaleta..."

Brasil, decime qué se siente
To the Credences Clearwater Revival song "Bad Moon Rising"

Brasil, decime qué se siente (Brazil, tell me how it feels)
tener en casa a tu papá… (Having your Daddy here at home)
Te juro que aunque pasen los años (I swear after all these years)
nunca nos vamos a olvidar… (We are never going to forget)
Que el Diego te gambeteó (That Diego slipped it by)
que Cani te vacunó (To Cani who banged it home)
que estás llorando desde Italia hasta hoy (You have been crying since Italy)
A Messi lo vas a ver (Messi with no doubt)
la Copa nos va a traer (Will bring the Cup to us)
Maradona es más grande que Pelé… (Maradona is greater than Pele!)

Good tune - a repeater that can go on and on - we just need appropriate words to dis the rags.. Though words that don't make Fernandinho and possibly Fernando Regas feel too bad,..

Re: "Oh Pablo Zabaleta..."

James milner tweeted zabba 15 mins before kick off" good luck zabba"zabba replied" thanks"then milner tweeted" I just cant see you beating Germany"
then zabba replied"thanks james that's not summat I want to hear 15min before kick off"

Zaba was outstanding and gave his all. I doubt it was Milner tweeting or Pablo replying 15mins before kick off

Re: "Oh Pablo Zabaleta..."

Of course it wasn't Milner it was the spoof Milner account.

Re: "Oh Pablo Zabaleta..."

He must be made of steel - that German studs up tackle that hit his knee would have crippled lesser players.

Re: "Oh Pablo Zabaleta..."

Apart from being a top player he's also a top bloke.

Last night at the end of the game he stood defiant. He wasn't blubbing his eyes eyes out like that cretin David Luiz. He realised he'd lost a football match. An important one professionally no doubt but a football match nevertheless.

Crying for me is fine. Tears of joy for the winners no problem. But players wallowing in self pity after a defeat do me a favour.

I thought the whole Argentina team gave it their all but they weren't quite as good as Germany individually.

So Sergio's self pity at losing in the biggest game that any Pro footballer can achieve pisses you off ? Harsh.

Re: "Oh Pablo Zabaleta..."

I mean this. last night we saw the best right back in the world playing in a blue shirt. Argentina's problems, right through the tournament, had nothing to do with their defence, which was monumental. With the attack and midfield giving the ball away over and over again, not stringing three passes together, it obviously brought huge pressure to bear on the defence. Ultimately, it folded. Once.
I think Zab has actually come out of this tournament with his status enhanced, if anything. Loving the thought of seeing him back home, where he belongs. It would be great if we could find some sort of welcoming song for him for the Liverpool match.
