He's a good role player who usually plays his role well. He has really good pace and doesn't lose the ball but his finishing isn't good at all. In some games, he can be an asset but in others he doesn't make much of an impact.

What do people expect from him? OK, it was a piss poor finish, but it's happened to the best. Yep, his crossing is sometimes off, but he does get some right. However, he works his socks off and he frightens the fuck out of defenders. We paid £17m for him, and by today's standards that gets you a decent, middle of the road player, and I think Navas is more than performing to the £17m price tag.

Exactly. He is the best defender we have in a wide position. Plus he's fast and tidy. And stretches teams with his pace. He's not Silva - won't pick the clever pass all the time. He's not Aguero - he won't score every chance. And he's not Messi, he won't beat 2 or 3 players with skill.
But just look how many chances he created last season - 75...not far behind Silva. And he runs his balls off for the team. A quality squad player who should play in most away games.

I'd agree with most of that, but he isn't half frustrating. Never mind the number of crosses straight into the shins of the nearest covering defender, and the powder puff finishing, the times he passed the ball under Sagna's feet or behind him yesterday when the City full back was overlapping, causing promising situations to falter, was nobody's business. He's a very useful squad player for us and it was noticeable that Sakho couldn't get going at all yesterday because Navas was helping Sagna out like a good 'un, but a visionary top drawer footballer he is not
