I cant call his effort, but what he does with the service he gets is not good.Imagine if you will, Peter Barnes, Denis Tueart or Peter Beagrie with the amount of time on the ball Navas gets,
Navas looked just the ticket in his first season with us. Point is, he was getting past his marker regularly, getting to the by-line, cutting some vicious crosses back from there, swerving away from the keeper (i.e. the most difficult sort). He also scored some quality goals, although none of them, as I remember, actually determined the outcome of the match.
For reasons I can't fathom — perhaps he's just that bit slower, age catching up with him — he rarely goes outside his full back and leaves him for dead now. It might be a confidence problem, as well as the physical one. He also hasn't scored in the PL for well over a year. I thought he took a ridiculous amount of slagging last year on this forum, and said so. But he's not the player he was in 2013-14, there's no denying it. With the arrival of Sterling and De Bruyne, the writing's on the wall. He moves down a grade, to become a good squad player. Will he hang around? Not certain. I'd like to keep him, myself.
The dynamic of the team has changed absolutely pointless putting high crosses into the box with only Aguero there. His low cut back to the edge of six yard 18 yard line seem to be the way we are going down both flanks
