He has less shots to deal with than pretty much any other keeper in the league. He's the keeper, it's not unreasonable to expect him to do a bit of goalkeeping every now and again, it is his job after all. Obviously in an ideal world we'd defend better and have no need for a keeper at all, but at the end of the day he is there to make saves. Like I said, it wasn't a howler by any stretch of the imagination, but in my opinion it's one that he could have saved if he'd got his positioning/balance right.

One way or another, we are letting in far too many goals for the amount of shots we let the other teams have. Obviously some of that is down to people walking it in after complete defensive meltdowns, but he's actually been remarkably good when everyone goes awol and it's him against the entire attack and has saved those more often than not. But regular shots from either outside the box or narrow angles are all flying in. Either we are just getting incredibly unlucky and every attacker is just picking out world class finishes every time, or Hart could be doing better. (I actually think it's more of the first thing than the second, as everyone's finishing seems far worse when watching games not involving us, but it's getting incredibly frustrating now that everything goes in)
And most of them are one on ones as a result of this defensive high line non-pressing press defence that Pellers has. Incidently Hart saves > 3 in 4 of this type of chance more than any other keeper so careful what you wish for.

Maybe he needs to review his goalkeeping technique in this area.
If the shot is from a narrow angle the attacker doesn't have much of the goal to aim for,so it's better to stand tall and keep your legs together , otherwise you give the attacker the opportunity to nutmeg you (Giroud) or to blast it over you ( Gomez). In the event that the attacker does find the gap between you and the post you can always use the De Gea technique of saving it with your feet.

Do you remember Aguero's solo goal at Old Trafford a couple of years ago when he danced around their defence before hammering it high past De Gea at his near post?

Did you think De Gea should've saved it? No? Right.

Subpar performance by Hart.
Outchech by his counterpart at the other end who faced more shots/on target.
8 shots vs 20 approx.

The exquisite and scintillating goal by Yaya would have salvage a point if Hart was on par.

Hart should look himself in the mirror.

I wouldn't call it a sub par performance by Hart at all. He couldn't have done much with either goal in my eyes. He should be captain at the moment instead of Yaya.

Well said - great example. Joe is human, and he probably will be disappointed himself he didn't stop Giroud's shot, but he has saved our sorry arses so many times over the past 2 years, it is ridiculous to pull him up on what is at worst a borderline miss.

Agree - shows every game how much he cares. Will never forget his manic celebrations after the Aguero goal went in that day in May ...

They had 5 on target, we had 6. Not that that is any way relevant to how both performed. For example, Aguero's turn and shot which trickled into Cech is counted as a shot on target.
