Watching Silva for Spain and the way Sterling moved to the No.10 role vs Watford makes me think the trio of Sterling/Silva/De Bruyne will interchange throughout the game in the 3 positions behind Aguero. Although we may lose a bit of natural width by not having Sterling and Navas as out and out wingers, the interchangeability between those 3 could cause havoc in the final third. Add Yaya and Sergio to the mix and we could be almost unstoppable.

My thoughts exactly. He would 100% have played if still playing for the Dippers
Eh? Then explain Delph (not to mention Hart) getting plenty of time. It was San Marino, if he doesn't play against Switzerland then take issue with it. This game was a good one for rotation from the strongest XI.

"At his age, he has plenty more to look forward to. I'm sure that one day he'll be looking forward to sitting here alongside me with over 100 caps."

Hodgson clearly sees himself managing England well into his seventies!

Edit: In seriousness though, nice to see he's praising RS for his early season form with City, and admits that he was rested against San Marino to give others a chance.

Didn't look too bad. However, England need a true central playmaker. The game changed when Rooney was able to drop deeper and spray the ball around (as best he could, mind)

It's just not a role we develop as a nation, we'd be much better once we have a true CAM.
