I wonder if he'll want to stay now so that when he does finally leave he can get a similar farewell gift and leaving speech as that we gave to Frank today. That plaque makes a birthday cake look a bit insignificant.

In 5 seasons time we'll probably be saying "we never really replaced Yaya."
One of those players that is much better than many think. Unfortunately he's probably got at least 2 great seasons still in him.

I despair that some can't see this. If he really wants to go, maybe we can't keep him, but I think we should do everything possible, if we haven't already to keep him. Not seeing what goes on behind the scenes, this may have happened. If so, then fair enough. Hee will be almost impossible to replace IMO.

True, but he's only worth keeping a) if he's deployed in a position that plays to his strengths and doesn't impact the team in a negative way, and b) if he's prepared to put the effort in. Too often this season the manager has got the former wrong, and the player hasn't done the latter. In fact the last couple of games have merely highlighted just how piss poor and half arsed Ya Ya's contributions have been at times this season by comparison (Klanfield and the Swamp being two obvious standouts)

That's the first home game this season when I've thought Yaya Toure really put a shift in, but he was exhausted by the time he came off which tells you how unfit he is. If he stays he has to get fit over the Summer.

1st half we could have been 3 or 4 up in part because of Toure but he ran his legs off inside an hour

Those who think he could play further forward are wrong. There's less space when you're up against opposition defence. You get the ball by making runs continually and most times you make a run into space you don't get the ball.

I would sell him if we possibly can. I can understand him being affected by the loss of his brother, in the Summer, but almost 12 months later he still hasn't got fit. Are we to believe his attitude will change within 5-6 weeks rest?

He's just another squad player now, and for me he wouldn't start games against the better teams

Excellent yesterday as he has been for the vast majority of his city career. Lung busting, powerful runs at the heart of the opposition defence is a sight to behold and he is almost unstoppable.

Definitely a swansong performance though and a nice way to say goodbye to one of our best ever players.

Time waits for no man and its time for Yaya to finish his career in a less physical league and for us to make space wage wise in the squad for his replacement.

He will be brilliant in Italy for a good few years no doubt.

It's a shame the way that things have ended but he will go down as an all time great. Played more than a huge part in the cups we won and the 2 league titles.

I was speaking to someone yesterday. I genuinely don't know how we will replace him. I think we'll have to learn to play in a different way. But thanks for everything Yaya.

As conflicted about Toure's potential departure as I was about Tevez's.

Personally I think we should offer him as much money as it takes to get him to stay. Will be the kind of loss which we won't truly feel until he's gone. And then it'll be too late to do anything about it.

The only reason I think he should go is if we get Pogba, then Yaya would spend more time on the bench and I don't think he's a good personality to have around if he's not getting the game times he thinks he should. That and the cost of his wages on top of Pogba.

The club need to convince Toure that he should stick around to mentor Pogba, Bony, and some of the other younger players such as Kelechi. Especially if the idea is to play 433 in the manner in which we have been doing for the last six matches - just imagine a midfield of Pogba, Toure, Fernandinho, with Silva, Kun, Sterling ahead of them.

I have.

I want Toure to stay but he has to want to.

I think both he and the club would be daft to part company now.

The problem though is that Yaya doesn't present value for money as our highest paid player. He's 32 and those steam train like runs and deft moments of brilliance are becoming more inconsistent. I wouldn't mind him running his contract down if absolutely necessary which has 2 years left, but I'd rather we got him down the wage structure rather than giving him more.

Much of Yaya's game relies on the physical and to prolong his top level career he will need to be managed around his physical decline. I seem to think he'll probably still want to be the main man.

This seems like a handshakes all around situation. He will want something that we shouldn't really give him and we want to use him in a way where he doesn't really want to be used. No hard feelings, we've just outlived the usefulness to each other and he can move on with a lot of affection from the City fans.
