As you can imagine i am really pleased he is staying, he has been our most important player over the past 4 years and is still a fantastic player..

All Yaya needs is a good rest, a better level of fitness and he will be like a new signing next season..
And get his head right, if he's still moody and slouching around the field with that ''what the fuck am I doing here'' attitude i'm sorry but he's got to be got shut of at Christmas, we can't carry disinterested passengers next season

you know what I've never seen yaya with a wtf am I doing here attitude , I've seen a tired player, as the poster said a rested yaya will be a dominant force ,and imo wasn't as bad as was made out, he was made a bit of a scapegoat for some of our poorer performances but that's down to him and his gobby agent

He needs a rest alright but it also takes a professional sportsman quite an effort to reach the level of fitness that is needed at top level, so there you have a contradiction. And don't forget, he is now at an advanced age for a footballer and although he still has some time left, he is going to have to adapt to a different game plan whereby his lung busting runs will become a thing of the past. This will mean restructuring the defensive midfield part of the team with Yaya pushed forward, and if we land Pogba then this may do the trick, but if we don't then would we have faith in Fernando and Fernandinho to do the job because their doesn't seem to be too many supporters of that idea, certainly if we are to be serious challengers for trophies.

Some simplistic "yah boo sucks" crap on here about people eating crow pie.

Nobody could deny Yaya's extraordinary talent but the in/out debate has been mostly about his attitude and motivation. There was a case for selling him last year, for reasons often stated, but the chance to get serious money for him has gone. That's water under the bridge. If he seriously knuckles down next season I'm sure nearly everyone would be delighted.

But you can fcuk off with the crow pie stuff from one or two pissy-arsed posters.

Also no African Nations Cup to worry about next season. We have him for a full season. Agree that we've missed the chance last summer of maximising a decent fee for him.

I wonder what the odds are on a move to New York City in 2 years time.

No one but Toure knows how significant his recent conciliatory remarks are. Could be a pragmatic realisation that the only alternative is a mid-table offer from a 2nd rate league, or he could be entirely genuine. And even if he's genuinely encouraged by support from on high, will that translate to motivation to train hard? No one can say.

There is no point pursuing this argument because it can not be tested until the season is upon us, but we will because it is in our nature to speculate about such a key player

I don't think he's been disinterested. I just don't think he has the legs to play in the center any more. He is a big lad and it takes a lot to get that frame moving over a short distance. Once in motion he is still a force but not as able to make the subtle adjustments to get past people as he used to. His game has to change to utilize what he is still great at, excellent first touch, fantastic vision, inch perfect passing and a monster to move off the ball. So IMO he can't play a CM, DM, CB or FB. That leaves an attacking role, like Nasri or Silva or as an actual striker.

Again I honestly don't believe the man is lazy or uncommitted, just not being played in a role that suits his humongous aging body. (He said speaking as a humongous aging body himself ;-) )

I would imagine theres a really good chance that's what hes been promised. big contract out there when he finishes at us.

I'm hoping he has a great year next year. I'm not expecting the lung busting runs to regularly appear, but I'm hoping he looks in better physical condition than he did last year (which I think rings true for a lot of our players).

I've said it before - it's UNinterested, not DISinterested. The latter means acting for others without wishing for any personal gain.

Do please listen to me when I tell you.
