Re: Yaya?

I believe there are two main factors:

1. He had a freak, never-to-be-repeated season last year. A big blip on the graph that may have masked the effect of age and made this season's drop-off look spectacular.

2. He's never shown the same drive as the Zabs and Jimmies of this world. Cakegate won't have helped.

I was one who would have cashed in for the above reasons, although some of the valuations on here were wildly optimistic. In the event the opportunity probably didn't materialise or maybe we couldn't find and fund a good replacement. We don't know for sure what the club were thinking.

He has improved on the start of the season though and, in fairness, we've had numerous below par performances from various players. Let's hope we get the most out of him while being mindful that he's disposable.

His brother died a few months ago, is that not even remotely factored in?

People do die, you know, even if it was traumatic to Yaya, but those of us who are left behind just have to get on with it. Nothing is going to bring his brother back and Yaya's best course of action would be to return to his standing as one of the world's greatest players and to honour his brother in this way.

Yaya was actually one of our better players yesterday IMO. He was unlucky to hit the cross bar and not score, however we did some storing runs from the middle. He tried to break down West Hams wall. Sure, he wasn't as great as he was last season (but lets face it, its doubtful whether he will ever reach last seasons exceptional heights). Nonetheless, Yaya has and still is an important member of our midfield. Had we to remove Yaya, who would we play instead that can create moments out of nothing in a split second?
He attacked well. He just didn't defend much.

This is why we need 3 in midfield. He is 31 years old, he just can't anymore run back and forth all the time. It will cost us dearly if we don't react to that.

As someone said, he is holding us back to some extent. Because we can't play Silva in his best position if we play 3 in the middle and if we play Yaya in midfield 2, it will continue to cost us.

He is still effective going forward, but just too much work to do for him at 31 in mid 2.

Do you work for Samaritans?

Re: Yaya?

Quite saddening that he's only 31, he looks absolute fucked. Yaya will go down as one of the best players ever to play for us. Never mind what happened this summer with him, he is and always will be a city legend. Hopefully pellegrini plays him in a role that will get the best out of him for the rest of the season. Were wasting a world class talent in which imo will be his last year where he can produce match winning performances.

Re: Yaya?

Any chance he makes the top 3 for the ballon d or.... No suarez... So james Ronaldo the other 2...otherwise Messi if they go with their status quo
