I said I wouldn't come back on Yaya's performance so let's talk generically here.

Stats don't give the whole picture or tell the full truth - and especially when quoted selectively to support a pre-determined position. Fortunately, most of us are blessed with a pair of eyes too.

ok generically then: to be honest numbers/stats are always quoted selectively to prove a point that does not make them untruths... the league crowns its top scorer not the best striker (thus my statement about football and stats)... case in point: i really don't think Vardy is much of a player but he is scoring, he is english (from the outside looking in English players are talked ad nauseam), and he did not come from Barcelona... i think Aguero is the best striker in England but he hasn't scored as much and he has barely played so every one picks (talks up) Vardy: numbers...
my point is Yaya is... oh yeah we aren't talking Yaya any longer :)

oh yeah clean sheets: didn't we have the most clean sheets last year/season yet every one claimed the best defense was Chelsea... i guess this proves your point... but at the end of the day football crowns the best stats but the support is all about emotions...

We can agree on that last point. I do actually think stats are an important aid to analysis but just need to be kept in their place.

Who else is going to his job if he's on the bench? There is nobody at the club that can dictate play like toure. If we rely on Delph, fernandinho or fernando to control the game then we will be truly fucked.

Yes but Yaya doesn't control games anymore, does he. He is capable of controlling games for short spells and that's often good enough but for larger spells of most games we're very often slow, predictable and just retaining possession without any real attacking intent or movement.

His moments of pure genius are irreplaceable but his lack of mobility, intensity and stamina are hurting the team as a whole in and out of possession in my opinion for large spells in games which mean we can't get any consistency.

Delph isn't capable of those moments of pure genius but he wouldn't be as costly to the team for the larger spells of games. Admittedly our possession stats would take a hit but most goals come from quick counter attacks in football and his pace and energy on the break and also running beyond the attacking midfielders/striker(s) would give us more movement and that would create space for Silva and De Bruyne. Our pressing game would improve and we wouldn't be as vulnerable to midfield runners and counter attacks defensively either. Yaya can then come on and either kill the game or change the game for us without having to play 90% of the game trying to conserve energy.

I wish it would have crowned the best stats when manager of the year was handed out the two times we won the league.
