players go and applaud fans

Tevez did make a fair point though it is a two way thing

I agree its a 2 way thing but if I still had the mike I would of put my case back to Tevez that away from home we very rarely leave before the whistle, also at Home people know the players are just going to stand in the centre and walk off. If fans knew they were walking over to south stand and singing sections 90% would stay to clap them off.

Also I think the difference with Kolo and Kompany is Kolo is captain, Kompany wasnt long may it continue though especially away when the effort and cost to go has been made by most.

I know the point about players applauding the fans was originally focused on away games but it was interesting tonight to see Toure and a few others making more of an effort to applaud the fans. Toure in particular made a point of walking a bit further towards the stands and applauded in all four directions.

Having said that how long will he carry on doing it when the place was half empty by the final whistle. I could understand (though not agree with it) against Everton when their 2nd went in and it started a mass exodus. But 3-0 win tonight and people streaming out. I felt embarrassed.

I know it is everyone's right to walk out when they want, I know some have to catch last trains and all that but I could not believe the number of empty seats at the end. Behind me there were 2 or 3 rows completely empty with 5 mins to go. What's up with everyone. Hate to compare us to the dippers but look at them at the end of a game and the place looks full.

when ever we win or deserve to be clapped i do wonder why people leave. i always stay if i feel the players deserve it. i only leave when im pig sick. take everton for example. left as soon as the second went in.

now the player say it works both ways, our fans leave early after 85 minutes?

hmmmm, well we could say why do some of the team give up after 85 minutes?

not looking to start an argument, but it's true.

You would have thought we went 3-0 down with the amount of people that left early. The whole leaving early/getting there late thing confuses me.

I have no objection to any fans that leave early (especially during a night game) but, this does not mean that the fans that do stay behind and applaud the players are snubbed by most of the players on their way out.

City fans don't deserve applauding of late.
Bang on the money. Maybe for the games down south, just for that effort they should be applauded but not at home after some people boo at half time. Kolo has always clapped us, one thing he IS good at ;)

I thought they were booing the ref all this time my god I feel stupid now

the players should clap as the fans pay lots of money to support the lads, a little 10 second clap at the end isn't hard to do and folk appreciate it

well done kolo as well btw

not only did they come over, three of them through their shirts into the crowd

They came THROUGH their shirts into the crowd.....lol...I had visions of them diving through their shirts into the crowd then!

Ignore me mate, I know you meant 'threw' ;o)
Thought you were going to go the "jizzed all over the crowd" route with that one!

as soon as the third went in people left in droves!! numpties in my opinon

I have never understood why people get upset about players not clapping them.

Who gives a shit? Why do you need to be clapped?

Do you expect the staff at Tesco to give you a round of applause as you leave?

As long as they win the game I don't care if they pull eleven moonies when they walk off the pitch.

I think it's been more of an issue at away games when fans have travelled far and wide, paid tons of money to do so, the team have lost and they can't be bothered to turn to the fans. E.g. Poland away game in UEFA a few years back. That's when most get upset about it. I think most recent one was about the 2nd leg at the swamp this year. Ok not that far travelled but fans given it their all, wanted to show their appreciation but players walked straight off. Most accepted the players were gutted as well and that the swamp has that weird tunnel in the corner so opposite end to us.

I don't get upset about it but to me it's a coming together between the players and the fans, win or lose, mutual appreciation for each other. When Carlos replied the other week and said it works both ways, I thought "yeah fair enough". So I'm plaeased they appear to be making more of an effort and I'll stand and applaud them.
