didn't seem to do much good did it?

looks like we may need to go back to a Mancini arse kicker

think there was an earlier thread about mentality - bang on - too many coasting - include cheeky and bergi in that

perversely after tonights showing thought Mangala will eventually come good - in one of those spells where everything he does is going wrong at the moment

Agree with Mangala. He is young and was a bit of a bull in a China shop, he will be great once he settles in

I questioned the players mentality after the Community Shield as we've been Champions before and coasted the next season, however up till now I haven't given it a second thought as the commitment and effort has been there. It wasn't tonight though.

I think this is just a blip, and we'll get on track soon enough.

You have said it your self that Community Shield was a massive own goal by Manuel .
That mentality as been set in stone for the season .

An arse kicking isn't always what is needed. Every player reacts differently and chucking things about doesn't solve anything. At the moment the team is lacking confidence rather than just effort. We put in some effort today and we got nothing, last year we'd get lucky and get the odd goal but it didn't happen at all and our mistakes were seen raw, it's all because of a lack of confidence. I don't think a bollocking is what the players need but rather they need a good win and some goals to gain an invincibility feel back.

Last year we went into the derby ready to count how many goals we'd score and then every other game we went into at home you were always wondering if this would be the one where we'd break that Huddersfield record.... Right now it's god that bad that we are only looking at where the next defeat is and that is why confidence is so low. The rags have had a by far worse start and have spent 200% more than we have over the summer yet many are conceded to losing this weekend. There is no logic to that, the only team better than us on paper in this league is Chelsea (sorry S'ton won't stay the length) who we have already got a decent result against, why should we be afraid of anyone. We need that air back and it starts at home.

Losing tonight isn't the end of the world as many negatives as there were, piecing it into positivity is the challenge now and lifting confidence has to be the most important thing. We have a great chance to do that against the scum because as we know a derby is different and if we put the effort in we have by far the better talent on show. The team needs to stay solid and get a decent run of results to build on.

This part isn't about trophies it's about keeping together and sorting it out so that we at least stand a chance.

Our players saw their areas when Mancini did this to them and they didn't deal with it well then, same things are happening again.

I've taken liberty of logging onto Bluemoon as lifelong West Ham fan to thank all City fans who were applauding at end of game on Saturday, different class, and I can tell you it was fully appreciated by many West Ham fans, always been affinity between both sets of fans, good luck against scum on Saturday!
